: Tie rod ends

Took Big Red to my local independant garage for a rattle [rattles] coming from the front end. Took them print outs for the motor mounts & tie rods. They found one tie rod end really bad & the other had play as well. Repaced both & aligned. Drives great but I still have a little rattle whenever either front tire hits a small road imperfection. They said the motor mounts were good. I replaced the top motor support last winter in Florida. The rubber was torn in it. Might it be calipers or pads? It's just a little annoying. Also have a sometimes feels like a slight hesitation when the throttle comes off idle at any speed, also when the cruise picks up after coming going down a hill. They suggested that the transmission is getting close for a service [78,000 mi] & suggested a flush might cure the hesitation. Anybody heard of that before?

I had a rattle and it was the grommets for the caliper pins I replaced them and the clips and the rattle went away

Just got the tie rod ends done & now the right front turn signal quit. Going to change all 4 bulbs while it's apart.

All 4 bulbs changed in the rt. hand headlight assembly.
Still had a rattle after the tie rod ends were changed, last Thru. it changed to a bang when turning either direction, back to my friendly independant shop. Found 4 frame mount bolts loose, 1 a full turn & a broken sway bar link. It had corroded to 1/2 it's size & snapped off. Other side was ready to break as well. What kind of cheap crap steel is G.M. allowing these crucial parts to be made from? Does it come from China? I ve been driving for over 50 years & never had a sway bar link break, Some cars over 15 years & 150,000 mi. This is not Cadillac quality.

Problem is they always retain water in the bushings. I've had a couple break on me. Not in this car. But others

At around 70K I had a clunking sound from the front end as well. Found out I had a bad strut, sway bar bushing were worn as well as the sway bar end links were in bad
shape. Being that I have a performance edition the struts were pricey. I replaced both struts along with new strut bearings as well as the mentioned parts and the car drove like new. I tend to agree that OEM parts just don't seem to hold up well as compared to other cars/makes that I have owned in the past.

My sway bar bushings are worn as well but no ones in town. Going to change plugs [80,000 mi.], oil, bushings, over all check up before heading south in the fall.

as far as the slight hesitation did you ever find the cause for it ?????? did the flush work?

Didn't do the flush yet. Still have the ocassional hesitation, a plug change has been recommended. Will do all this before our annual run S. in the fall. Between tightening frame mount bolts & new sway bar links it's like a new car again. Very pleased.

Like don't fix it if it's not broke.

No, Norm, I think that one would, generally, see problems with x-mission shifting if one were to flush the system. Just get the x-mission fluid & filter changed at the recommended intervals.

Now, w.r.t. the sway bar links breaking, they don't make cars like they used to do. I'm sure that the parts come from all over the world, including China. I'm assuming that your Caddy does not see the salt/sand of the northern country.
