Anyone know where I can buy an STS-V hood for a reasonable price? Salvage with a couple dings would be ok. The car is in the body shop anyway.
Any input would be much appreciated!!!!

Well guys, I've been posting all the in-progress pics in the Non-V forum since my car is not a V, but I figured I'd throw a couple pics up now that all the body & paint is finished & see what you guys think.

The mods are as follows:
1. Completely smoothed rear bumper
2. Wide bodied rear 1/4's by 2 inches each side
to be able to tuck the 315/25/22's
3. Fabricated a 1-off functional Cowl Ind. hood
4. All lights except front are Blacked Out.
5. I seperated the H/L & F/L Assy's to paint the
chrome housings gray to match the body.
6. I seperated all 4 corner marker lights &
installed a 9 LED strip to replace single 194
bulb
7. E&G mesh upper & lower grills
8. Complete repaint of the Dark Tarnished Silver
9. Painted the grill, hood, wipers/cowl, roof, &
trunk in Black Diamond
10. CTS-V coupe muffler.
11. 22x12 rears, 22x9 fronts with P-Zero's
12. Lowered 2.5 inches all the way around

That's all I can think of at the moment but I'll post more with all the appropriate pics as I go. Finishing the interior is next on the list!!

Let me know what everybody thinks. Positive & negative comments are welcomed as long as they are tactful. Lol, it is my car & I know not everybody agrees with getting this crazy.

I see the pics. I think it looks cool. Not sure I like the exhaust tips hanging that low. Seems like you need a cut out in the bumper and to raise them.

Can we see some nighttime pics of the LED headlamps?

Very nice. You already know how I feel about that hood though. I also second carter. When you were talking about doing this I thought there was going to be a cutout in the bumper for the exhaust to sit up in.

I see it now. The hood seems a little too ... not STS. How did you squeeze those tires in there? Looks mean!!

He had the fenders flared out to accommodate wider tires. Custom work. Very cool.

I have to take it to the exhaust shop Monday morning so we can raise the muffler & then right back over to the body shop to notch the bumper.

I don't have a pic of the LED markers in the car yet but here's the in-progress pics of that mod.

Luv the colors, I think a v series hood will do you justice, a more substantial bumper will be needed to compliment your exhaust, your rear fenders AWESOME!

fast_lane10

more subtle hood and cutout for exhaust ....may be two exhaust tips on each side something like DTS to differentiate from regular STS

Love those side markers. Excellent job on those. Car looks great. Love how the side views are painted black instead of grey. Good choice on that. I promise this is the last time ill say it but the stock sts hood would seriously clean this look up. But it's your car so do what you want. Nevertheless, it looks outstanding. Beautiful work.

I have to agree on the hood, but everything else looks really sharp! I definitely love the side markers, you could probably sell those sidemarkers to lots of people if you wanted to fab up some sets.

Thank You for the compliment. I'm still not sure on the hood myself. Although I must say It looks much better in person than in pics. I was thinking about Fabbing up a few sets of the markers but man is it a Pain in the A$$!! Lol

I like your hood the car I not a v so it should not have a v hood. And yours is 1 of a kind this way. You need biger brakes with that big of a wheel. Look in to c6 zo6 ones they are not to bad and might fit with out two much trouble.

Guy.Seminerio
09-15-13, 11:57 PM
I didn't want to say anything because I didn't want to seem to critical because this thing really is a beauty. But I always laugh when I see cars with huge rims with tiny brakes. Luckily yours aren't the type of rims where it showcases the rotors very much. Your eyes are more drawn to the wheel design. But still, bigger brakes are now possible, and also would bring the look up.

Thank you, I feel the same about the hood. That's exactly why I didn't put a V hood on it. It's not a V & I'm not trying to make it look like 1. I do have a stock hood also painted so I can switch at any time. This 1 is starting to grow on me though. Locally I am getting much more positive reaction than negative everywhere I go. As far as the brakes, YES, absolutely need bigger. I am going to convert to the V setup but I will refinish the caliper with the Brembo logo & remove the V logo.

With a little massaging, yes you can mount them in the courtesy light location in the bottom of the door panel.

I've installed mine today (they have been sitting around since october of 2012 waiting to be installed) and did take pics of install, but didn't use the courtesy light location.
You can see them in the Show us your STS thread. (http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/cadillac-sts-forum-2005-through-2012/104756-show-us-your-sts-10.html#post10976858)

The distance picture is pretty cool. Still I'd like to see a v one before going in on this. Come to think of it I don't know about drilling into the door. And I wouldn't want to replace the courtesy light.
