Should I consider buying a 2000 or newer CAtera for my daughter who just got her driver's license?

Your thoughts and input will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks...

The 2000-2001 rarely have (but its not to say that they cant) problems vs the 97-99, but all Cateras are different. Yours may not have the problems others encounter. My 2000 with now 48,000 miles has only had these issues: EBTCM replacement- quite abnormal (warrantied), MAF, o2 and camshaft sensor. Im quite pleased with it so far though. And repairs are just as expensive as any other Cadillac. Sometimes more. I'd compare them to the repair costs for an 03' CTS.

Cadillac as a first car is always risky, my opinion is that they can be as reliable as any other Cadillac when properly taken care of.

On a side note, here's a document that gives you some key things to look over should you go for a Catera:
