I have an '03 EXT and recently replaced the suspension air compressor. Now the rear air shocks are bad and leaking. Eventully I would like to do a 2/3 drop and bigger wheels. I regularly pull a 22 foot boat and a 20 foot car trailer. My question is should I go back with air shocks even though I plan on lowering? Does lowering make the air shocks obsolete and should I just switch to gas shocks now?

I lowered mine and still use the factory active shocks and it rides great. To maintain a good ride you will need to get rear shock extenders and shorten the connecting rods for the rear auto level sensors. By the way, don't waste your time trying to lower the front more than 2 inches without getting drop spindles, you won't be able to correct the camber without them.
My main concern is with towing. Have you towed with yours since lowering? I just don't want to replace the air shocks if gas shocks would suffice because of the lowering.

I tow my foxbody mustang behind my escalade all the time! And occasionally a boat, Im lowered 2/3 with air shocks still functioning as they should! I have no complaints about towing while its lowered! Does just as good as it did at factory height!
Cool, guess I'll be dishing out the money for air shocks then. Thanks!
