: Midwest Track day

Would anyone in the midwest be inerested in renting a track for an entire day to go play? I have no idea what it would cost.... yet..... but i was thinking Putnam Park during the week might be afordable if enough people were interested. The advantage over say a NASA HPDE day would be many many fewer cars and much more track time... even half a day with fewer numbers would be nice.. and during the week would be much cheaper. Out of curiosity... anyone in the midwest who would be willing to travel to Putnam Park..... about 40 miles west on Indy on a weekday..... give me an idea of how much you would be willing to pay and how interested you are and ill give Putnams corporate office a call for some prices.

Random datapoint: To rent Thunderhill Raceway in No. Calif, it costs me $3500 for the full day, up to 20 cars, including 1 staff organizer, full corner workers, ambulance, and lunch.

HOLY CRAP...... That cheap?????????????????

I might just rent it myself for the caddy and the Caterham .......I wonder what hot lapping would be like in an 8.1Liter avalanche?

Putnam is going to call me back with prices any minute.

OK... Putnam Park

6200 dollars... 0900 to 1700hrs..... corner workers.... pit worker for pit out flagging..... ambulance...... 4000000 dollar insurance from K&K.

Other option.....Rent a BLOCK of time,, say 2 hours from a track day group.. as a subset of cars that would run for that block of time. I will contact Prosports Drivers group about this option.

Methinks the break even number for the track day would be about 20 cars if people would be willing to drop approx 300 bucks for a day at the track.

I don't think we could find that many people... But I am by nature a pessimist.

Doing the NASA HPDE thing is fun... and as a backup plan MAYBE we could make a Midwest CTS/V get together at a NASA day..

I would think 30 cars would be a better target. 35 would be even better. 10 hours is a good chunk of time and 35 cars wouldn't be too much. But try 20. If you can get that many to pony up that much, all the better. If not, try going for more. And with a location such as Putnam Park, I'm sure you could open this up to a few different clubs.

I'll be at the National SHO Convention's track day at Putnam Park in July. I believe it was about $150 with about 35 cars or so, I'm not quite sure. But keep us posted.

Bill and all, if you can put it in your calendar the Sunday before Easter you'll see me here:

It should be around $300 for the day. In the past there were two groups. One group gets chauferred parade lap slowly bringing them up to speed if you have never never done it before. But usually a good mix of Porsches, Corvettes, and Mustangs to play with.

Good place to finish off the runflats. :)
