First all my name is Kevin, I have been into cars since I could remember and I am currently 24. I've owned everything under the sun and have a wide appreciation for every type of vehicle. My forte is the Mustang, I grew up around them.

Anyways a little story here, my buddy bought this car with 53k original miles, mint black interior and vinyl top easily 9/10 , body in great shape! no rot! just some minor surface rust as you can see and straight as an arrow, just faded paint/clear. He was supposed to have his mini truck done for a show in Maggie Valley NC (we live in MA) and it just wasn't going to happen. He picked this up we threw it on air in a weekend, got some swap meet soft 8 wheels and put them on. I begged and begged for him to sell me the car after the show, he just wouldnt, finally he budged. Now I own her and I love her.

She needs some loving, some leaves caught on fire when we laid it out and dropped the keys had no time so we had to push it with his truck off the leaves and we damaged the header panel, surprisingly that was the only thing that was damaged , it is still sad though, so if you know anyone with a header panel that color or close, let me know ! (the car isnt going to get painted, it is going to get clear over its current condition to leave it in its original state)

Here is a picture and video where it is seen in the opening scene driving down the road at Maggie Valley!

Sweet ride! Check out the parts section and make a request. This forum has great members who are a pleasure to deal with.

Thanks guys, I made a request last night. I plan on doing a 500 swap over the winter. Nothing aftermarket just maybe an exhaust but I would like to get rid of the slouch of a power plant thats in there.

Does it have the 368 big block in it?

Yessir this car does. I hate it though. It doesn't get good fuel mileage at all, I do realize that the car is in dire need of cap rotor plugs and wires, a fuel filter, coolant flush, it sats for a few years (how it stayed in as good of shape as it did ? I don't know) but still I am unimpressed.

Also what can I do to upgrade my alternator. I just bought a sound system and the compressors for the air ride already put a huge draw on it. I read powerbastards gave someone in this section a real hard time so I am a little weary on ordering one from them.

How much of a sound system are you talking about?

Well it consists of an alpine deck, two alpine type r 12's , 1000x1 amp and mrp 1000. There is also a draw off the compressors for the bags. My buddy told me that the factory amp , even a 100 amp replacement wouldn't be enough.

Also, the 500 is a direct replacement correct? Since I have the 368?

Correct...you can reuse all your accessories, exhaust manifolds, brackets, etc.
As for getting by with the stock alternator, I doubt it (especially with the air ride).

Yeah thats why I was asking what there are for upgrades. I think I could experience as much as a 140 amp draw while compressors and system are running.

GM made a 140 amp alternator in the early/ mid 90s, but I think the mounting was different from a normal GM alternator.

Looks like I will just have to buy a powerbastard.

Some 90s alternators fit and do very well. I can snap a picture if you really need one.

368 in a 1980 was my best ever Cadillac for fuel economy. If yours is bad it needs maintenance.

I replaced it with a 500 C.I. because I need to keep up on my carbon footprint.

Finding a color matched header panel is a long shot. Good piece to break though as it's a bolt on.

Best of luck with the ride!
