Encountered an agressively driven clk55 amg today. I was very impressed with the V's ability at highway speeds. This guy was on it and I reeled him in 4th gear easily. Went into 5th and was continuing to pull away, then I looked at the speedo and realized I was at 130. Wow! That rush and silky smooth feel at that speed was awesome. This car delivers! Very happy V day today!

I could of crushed him even more but I kept missing 5th, I kept grinding up reverse. No damage done! Under warranty!:D

there is supposed to be a lockout for reverse in the CTS-V when you are moving forward more than a teeny bit (though I know my mustang does not have it because I always grind reverse when I try to put the 5 speed into 6th gear.........)

The Tremec T56 is on my Viper; believe me it can take alot of grinding! don't worry about the Warranty. We get these super charged pulling 675 RWHP.

So have you now woken up and got ready for school or are you old enough yet. Perhaps the CLK was having trouble changing up into 3rd or 4th gear. Dream on. Ive had both cars.

Why is this story hard for some to believe?
CLK55: 3960LBS / 376HP = 10.53LBS per HP
CTS-V: 3850LBS / 400HP = 9.63LBS per HP

An E55 is a different story, however: 8.71LBS per HP

Was definately a CLK55 AMG, last body style, not an 05, maybe an 03-04

Yep, the CTS-V will stomp on a CLK55 all day long. :coolgleam

Just watch out for the other AMG's, and the 600 series: SLK55, E55, CLS55, S55, S600, CL55, CL600, CL65, SL55, SL600, SL65 [That's about 5,500HP :bonkers: ]

If it was this generation..

Then it was the 342 hp car that runs mid to high 13s.

It was 13-flat in the Qtr mile.

If it was a CLK500

Then it was a high 13 second car.

The only visible external diffeence between the CLK55 and CLK500 is the badge and twin exhaust pipes vs. Single. (CLK55 AMG rims are optional on the CLK500)

I may be mistaken, but the earlier CLK55 was not a Kompressor. I do know a new CL55 AMG Kompressor will pull ever so slightly on the V. An E55 Kompressor will leave you (me) well behind.

MMmmm E55, that's when I need the 36 year old Chevy to do the big work!

I think the STS-V would be better suited for that..:p

Cool Brougham, I sold my two owner 1977 SDV a few months back it was Fire engine red, white vinyl top, immaculate original paint and interior with 80,000 original miles! I put in air horns (very, very loud horns) that played the theme song from the "Godfather". It brought $2,500.00.
