So i have a 2008 Cadillac STS. it has the all leather steering wheel, i wanted the wood trim on it so i ran across a 2011 STS wood wrapped steering wheel. if i buy it will i be able to take it to a shop and have it installed without a problem? or does it mecessarily have to be a 2008 STS steering wheel. they look exactly the same so yeah, if someone can let me know i'll be glad! :)

Should be fine.
I replaced my 02 Deville DTS wheel with a 04 Deville DHS wheel so that I could add the heated wheel that was a DHS only option.

Heated wheel was optional on all 03+ devilles base dts and dhs FYI.

I had it on my 04 Dts. What he's saying is that in 2002 you could only get it with the dhs.

I'm not sure what the difference is, but the information I was provided is that the 2008 wheel is listed by GM as only for 2008. Again, not sure what's up, but 2009+ are supposedly not the same and have a different part number. Obviously, pre-2008 are definitely different.
Since there are some small differences in features, maybe one or more of the wheel-mounted controls uses a different control signal. You may be able to check owners manuals (available online) to see is any controls have moved. It's a pretty expensive thing to buy without knowing. You could offer a try & buy if the seller is willing.
