08 SRX 44,700 miles and the Rack and Pin is bad? About a week ago I notice the steering kind of wonder. Got concerned, as they just replace all the front end about 3 months ago, took car to dealer to check on it. Call today that the Rack and Pin is shot, uggg. My extended warranty will cover it and I have a loner.. but still - 45,000 miles and the rack and pin goes out?

Don't get me wrong, I love this car - just in shock here. I had a Silverado for 7 years sold it with 150,000 and never had a problem.
As long as the extended warranty covers the cost... Keep plugging away.

Oh, and the power lock on the rear drivers side does not work sometimes, $350 to replace relay... with 45,000 miles.. I question the miles but Car Fax is clean.

Get a second and third opinion that doesn't sound right. Check inner and outter tie rods first. I've only replaced one rack in 10 years and that was due to a wreck. Get a trustworthy side mechanic to verify try other shops. The dealers are not always right and go for more expensive parts first before actually doing what they get paid for and diagnose.

Hello rcv8@hotmail.com,

I understand your frustration with this situation, I would be shocked if my vehicle experienced this issue after being replaced a few months ago as well. I am glad the dealer is able to fix this concern and that it is covered under your extended warranty. If there are ever additional questions or concerns that arise, don't hesitate to contact us!

Sincerely,

Laura M.
