I cut my oil filter open on the first change at 1500 miles. Just a bunch of metal particles typical of break-in as seen as silver specs. Lucky to not find slivers and big chunks. :)

The oil filter was very easy to remove unlike past GM factory filters that required practically destroying the filter casing to remove it.

I changed mine at 1085, and saw no sign of silver in the old oil, I even cleaned my drain pan first.....

I didn't cut filter open, however I had very minute amount of shavings on plug magnet, very typical for a new engine.

I did not find any metal when draining either. The mag. drain plug will pick up ferrious metal but not aluminum that the filter will pick up. That is why I cut it open to get an idea of what is going on inside the engine.
