Well guys, I'm fast running out of steam/options/ideas here. This post is to try to get some more information of other U.K. owners experiences, both good and bad, with their U.K. supplied Seville STS RHD.

"Cadillac" America's premier marque. Equal to, if not better than, a Rolls Royce. Well for me, it doesn't live up to that status. Don't get me wrong, the car is great, in fact the best car I have ever owned. But the customer service and the dealer support here sucks beyond belief.

As a number of you on this list will know, Cadillac screwed up big time over here in not marketing this car properly in the first place, therefore, only selling around 2400 units in total. So in consequence they are a pretty rare sight. I reckon mine is the only one in my area for about 80 miles, to give you some perspective.
But since the collapse of the Cadillac dealer network, I simply cannot get them to honor any warranty claim. I have called and written to countless people over the last 10 months to get a number of points rectified on my STS to no avail.
What I'm also looking for is contacts. Someone who has a name, or knows of someone in the Cadillac hierarchy who is gonna be able to genuinely help me.

The second reason for this post, and a little more upbeat, is to try to get some U.K. members together to share information. Sources for parts. Garages who know what they're doing when they lift the hood on one of these, stuff like that. This forum is great and a terrific source of knowledge and information on these cars, but simply, there is never a substitute for a number of owners gettin together over a beer.

Sorry to all that this is such a long post, really, I should have split it up to increase my post total.....sorry....my warped humor.

Finally, to the moderator....It would really help if you could make this post a "sticky" so it doesn't disappear into the depths of the archives. Many thanks.

If you are looking to make contact to the responsible people, I may have an address for you:

The “Kroymans Car Group” in the Netherlands has signed a deal with GM to sell Cadillac and Chevrolet all over Europe at least within the next 10 years.

To contact please try:

Cadillac Europe B.V
Meidoornkade 18 – 3992 AE- Houten
P.O. Box 568 – 3990 GJ- Houten
The Netherlands

infocenter@cadillaceurope.com (infocenter@cadillaceurope.com)

The Kroymans Group is currently starting to launch about 13 Cadillac Experience Center here in Germany and so far they are really helpful with all customer needs.

P.S. It would be nice to see some pics of your chrome loaded STS.

I have a 2002 STS and bought all the available chrome trims from the Vogue Center at Bayview-Cadillac in Ft Lauderdale, FLA

Good Luck

Hey there,

That's great, thanks for the information. However, the understanding I have is that these people don't want anything to do with the old sales and previous Cadillac network problems.
But I'll give it a shot. I'm fresh out of ideas myself and people to shout at. So I'm on the verge of litigation anyway.

Keep the info coming guys....really appreciate it. Someone out there must know someone with some muscle in this company....help please
I would hazard a guess though that this list doesn't see too many U.K. based owners.

On the pictures front....I'll gladly post some and have tried a couple of times already......but not really sure where to post them....thought this list had a seperate section for pictures, but can't find it anymore.
Also when I've tried to upload, I've got the message that the file sizes are too big. My girls been to a number of the U.K. shows, so I do have a bunch of pictures....if anyone out there can tell me how to get them up on this site, I'd be greatful.

Look at the top bar and you will see the link "cadillac pictures" This is the section where you can post your pictures without the size problem.

Thanks for that....Found it and uploaded a few pictures to kick it off.

My best girls going though a little bit of change at the moment, with the addition of a rear wing, 2004 hood emblem and brake lamp strip and a Corsa exhaust, so I'll post a few more pictures when she's done and the weather picks up a little here.

I've noticed some members seem to be able to post huge pictures inside these threads....anyone tell me how that is done?

Hi,
Have you tried Bauer Millett of Manchester ?
They are an authorized service centre for all GM vehicles, a bit pricey but i understand they do a first rate job and they have all the equipment necessary to perform a full service on the STS/SLS,
I beleive that's where the Manchester United football (soccer) players buy their cars from,
My own car has full service history with Bauer Milletts.

As for posting photos, try this site,

Mark.

Well hey Mark, Glad to get a response from a U.K. based owner.......no offence to anyone else here, but the U.K. spec. STS's have more differences than you can shake a stick at when closely compared to the U.S. one's......
Bauer Millitts.....hmmm...don't get me started about them....My STS was a special order through them, and then serviced by them, so when I bought it as the second owner, I wanted them to continue to maintain it....ha, fat chance, I fell out with the service manager there on the first day.....he had this stick up his backside about being the only "authorised" U.K. Cadillac dealer. he further said, to the effect that if I didn't let him service my car at an extortionately inflated price.....and in the future, I needed warranty work, he would refuse to do it...He'd also had some kind of issues with the previous owner and figured he was gonna make me pay too........the response was full of expeletives, like sit on your own flagpole, I can assure you. Needless to say, I wouldn't let them service my son's battery car, let alone my Seville.
My servicing is done by West Midland American Vehicles in Wolverhampton...they're a Chevy truck center, they know the cars (Tim, the boss has one), have the equipment and are online to GM for anything it needs, and all for one third what Bauer Millitts wanted to charge me.
Currently, the dealership issue in the U.K is really cloudy......Cadillac, under pressure from existing owners here, reinstated 2 of the original 11 dealers, (if you need details, I can supply), however, they really arn't interested, because they, (Vauxhall), know they've lost out to the Pendragon Group for the New and improved Cadillac Experience Centers. The first of which opened a few weeks ago in Park Lane......this is all gearing up to the '05 STS around April....but again no help to the existing owners, because they're not interested in the previous customer base.

Well I'll stop...I have a feeling I'm ranting....Bit dissappointed at this thread really....figured there was more out there in the U.K. subscribed to this forum....Please chip in....I need help...hell, I'll even entertain gettin onto Cadillac in the U.S. Surely they must have some control over what happens here....but I need to know where to start and who with......

Moderators....please can I have a sticky on this topic?

Hey johnny5alive0,

I really like the font you use, it's different, but one problem: some lines are suppressed, so it hard (and often even inpossible) to read them. I noticed this on a couple different computers. It's happened with post from other members too (whenever they try to use other fonts than default).

Thanks.

Yes, Oldgamer, I see your point.

Guess I now know why no-one wants to talk to me.....they can't read what I write.....hmm....I'll experiment a little...I did think it was maybe my graphics card being a bit lazy....but probably not if it's a problem for you too.

If this a board issue....is there a moderator or the like out there with a view on this?

I have previously asked, but still want to know how to post a picture in with the text here...I have tried, but persistently get the message that the file is too big regardless of how I resize it.

There is nothing to do with your videocard. Your videocard is in charge how you can see, not others.
Now your message was fine, may be because you made font a bit smaller.

Hey everyone,

Well this thread has been a major disappointment. With such a good membership I did anticipate that someone here would know someone who could help constructively.
I'm even more surprised at the lack of U.K. owner participation as well.
Given the rarity of this car and the inaccessability of parts here in the U.K., I would have expected this forum to be haunted by the U.K. owners for it's wealth of information and resources....but I'm not giving up...I'll keep posting to keep this topic current if it's the last thing I do........there's just gotta be someone, somewhere....eh?

Hey Finally a fellow Non US owner johnny5alive0!~

OK I have an STS in Hong Kong, RHD aswell.
Cadillac dealership here went out of business, GM Hong Kong licenced only Saab and Opel to new companies. Basically said f off to caddy owners here in HK.
We are screwed.
My car is now in the states, and so far USD$17,000 into repairs!
Can you believe that???? After all it should have been WARRANTY work since the beginning, but the idiots at the Cadillac HK always said there was "no problem" with the car. However, it needed a new engine!
I am furious at GM over this, and now they say that its nothing to do with them.

Hows your car running?

Hi m8, just found this forum. I'm in the UK and own a LHD 94 STS and my dad owns a UK supplied RHD 99 STS. The differences between the UK and US cars are few. Despite Cadillac saying they had changed the suspension to make it more suitable for our roads, I really don't believe them. My dad's car has had the sway bar changed and different bushes put in and now rides a whole lot better and can take fast corners more comfortably.:)

What problems are you having with yours?

Everything that can go wrong with a car has gone wrong with the 98.

Engine mountings have to be changed every 2 months becuase of the roads here, they crack right through the rubber. The engine vibrates ridiculously, the transmission jerks like crazy etc...

HI All
Im in the UK have had my 99STS for 5 years, i have been visiting this forum since last year but for some reason didnt find you post til today !!
I have had the same issues with warranty with my dealer, Unfortunateley I had to resort to threats of litigatiion before they would take me seriously, but even then they did not do a quality job, i believe them to be incompetent.
They refused to honor warranty issues and wouldnt give access to the Cadillac rep who made warranty decisions in UK, Eventually they relented and performed the work
How ever there was never at any time "service" they only did the minimum they could get away with

I now service my own vehicle ( I restore caddies for a hobby and am mechanically competent and a qualified electronics engineer) so with the help of the manual and some experience have been able to deal with most issues.
I currently have an over heat problem with mine (67k miles) and by process of elimination believe the cause to be air lock in the heads/block the system does not to be able to air bleed itself succesfully (still investigating air bleed hoses etc)

But after all that it is a superb car the finest i have ever driven let down by sh*t dealers and a sh*t overseas policy incredibly weak marketing and p*iss poor management
Cheers

Hi, perhaps us Brits could make a list of garages who can be trusted (and those so-called American specialists who are money-grabbing wasters.) Don't know whether we would need to do this via email incase the forum mods would be unhappy with companies being slagged off in public.
For example the specialist who said my 76 Vette needed £1500 of work to get it thru MOT
Took it to my local (Suzuki) garage - passed no problem.......

You could try approaching the Cadillac club of GB they may be able to assist with some areas, they have a website http://www.cocgb.dircon.co.uk/ I know several STS owners in UK but i'm not sure if they all know about this site, i have informed some of them, but most people will only go looking if they have a problem, If I can fix my issues i will probably keep my car till it dies partly because i cant find a decent car to replace it, not sure if i like the new STS yet and, its not over here yet !

Cheers
