I have a 95 Cadillac Eldorado. And my blower motor has to be replace. Some told me that some Chev. parts can go to a cadillac. Does anybody know anything about that? :hmm:

Just to be sure, are you positive that the blower isn't just clogged? Until you get the replacement, keep the vent on full-blast all the time. Sometimes you'll go over a bump and whatever's in there comes loose, and the blower works again. It wouldn't hurt to try...

yeah I think it is because I get a message on the dash about a/c compresson off and very low ref. And the the only air I get is went the vent is open. In the event of low refrigerant pressure, the compressor is commanded to cycle off by the BCM (Body Control Module) which gets the information from the PCM (Power Control Module) and the HVAC programmer.

Unless programming was changed from 1991 to 1995, the only time you will get any forced air through any vent (upon that event) is when the Defrost cycle is selected.

When the Defrost cycle is selected the following should happen:
Forced air is directed to the windshield.
Both the puller and pusher fans for the radiator/condenser come on.

This will happen when the low (side) pressure switch is closed (HI):

You should get a "compressor off" and "low refrigerant" message on the CCDIC (Climate Control Driver Information Center)

Regardless of compressor status or refrigerant status, your blower should come on when the Defrost/Defog mode is selected. If not, then there is either a fuse, relay, or blower fan problem. Items to be checked in that order.

Do not be in a hurry to replace the blower motor. The problem may be elsewhere and only a thorough diagnosis will reveal the exact problem.

So far, everything written suggests that the blower fan is working properly (not comming on) under the condition of low refrigerant pressure.

Nope! Super Chargers are better left to the 3.8L GM or 4.6L Mustangs. :bonkers:

Then again the blower motors are notorious for bad design and break down.

I have a 95 ETC and the blower motor stopped. I found in the middle of the firewall under the hood a crispy wire going into the plug which is plugged into the blower motor. I cut the bad piece of wire out and replced it, crimped the ends, taped it up, and plugged it back in. It has worked ever since. So my advice would be to check that plug and those wires. To change to blower isn't hard but it is involved and takes some time. My boss has a 96 sls and his blower went out. He took it ot the dealer and they charged him 560.00 to replace with a new one. A month later it stopped blowing again. Guess what I found............... a crispy plug wire............ he proly didnt need a new blower motor either.

Yea, the blower motor can be pricey, but that is just too much.

So you dont need a blower motor, but that crispy wire thing is something else.

I have my car look at this week and it's not the bolwer motor. It's the wires. This crispy wire. Were can I but one at. Do I just go to a Caddy dealer and ask for crispy wire plug???

To answer the original question, yes. There ARE many parts that are shared among the various GM divisions. You can find out which divisions share a particular part (if any) through the local parts department. For every part, there is a division usage designation and the parts guy can tell you what it is. This has come in handy many times over the years for me when trying to find a particular part. Many times I've found a part I needed for a Cadillac at a Buick or Olds dealer.

On a Fleetwood, yes. But on the Sevilles, Devilles, and Eldos, most of the time you are not going to find interchangeability in parts for cars heading into the 90's and beyond.
