Check engine light on because of clutch position sensor. I looked at it and its all loose. Check out picture, is it broken or did it come loose? Can't tell.

That's the same part in the photo, I just cropped it to the end that was suppose to be attached to the firewall? This switch is sliding loosely over the clutch shaft. Its kinda hard to get up in the dash to figure out how it suppose to connect.112649

Your service PDF shows some tabs or something on the back side, I will try messing with that. Thanks Darkman

After you disconnect the wire that goes to it it should just snap out if i remember right. Oh btw. when putting the new one back in it was a pain to get the slider under the tab on the rod that it attaches to. What i did was i got a paper clip. Made a L shape to push the slide on the new sensor down. I wedged the paper clip enough to keep it in the down slid position. Snapped the sensor back on and the pulled the paper clip out. I don't know how to describe it any better. You may see what i am talking about when you go to do it. Hope that kind of helped.

Is it suppose to be loose on the clutch shaft? Or mounted to that ring on the firewall?

If i remember right yes loose. Able to slide up and down the shaft. WHen working it will be pushed down. The sensor has a spring in it. That is what usually is bad.

Odla, you were right. Springs were broken. It was easy to take apart. Went down to ace hardware and replaced the springs. Cleared the pending codes and works good now. Fixed my cruise control problem also.
