Hi Guys,

Im wondering if anyone can help. My dad has a 500 in his Cadillac and it's constantly overheating, especially when he starts to drive up to 80kmph.
He has had so many things done - yet nothing seems to help? As there aren't
too many Cadi's or Cadi places in the area, we've found it very difficult to find help. Does anyone know of any places that are good with Cadi's in Melbourne (northern suburbs). Or does anyone know if this is a common problem and if so what's the fix??

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks

We might be able to help if you give us a run down of the car, engine (any mods), and the cooling system. Things like the type of fan, shroud, thermostat, ignition timing, etc..

Well you can try flushing the coolant and replacing the thermostat. Not a bad idea, may or may not fix the problem but it won't hurt things.

Hi guys,

It's a Cadillac De Ville 75. It's an 8.2 litre, 500.
Radiator's been flushed - New Thermo - New Water pump
and it starts overheating when he gets up to about 70kmph.

Any other suggestions?? Anyone had this sort of problem?

Thanks

Make sure there is a spring inside the bottom radiator hose. If the lower hose is allowed to collapse under high flow rates the water flow will be reduced and the engine will overheat. You could get one out of an old hose at the juckyard or a new hose should have one.
