: Having second thoughts

So, I just purchased a 2012 sedan, manual with Recaros and no sunroof. Exactly what I wanted. Until.... I bought the car on a Saturday and Monday the dealer sent someone out to pick the car up to be detailed and have a stuck passenger window fixed. They called that afternoon and told me the car needed a sensor in the accelerator fixed. I got the car back three days later. The following Tuesday the check ABS light and check stabiliTrac light came on. It took eight days to get the car back. I asked the dealer if they would take the car back and they agreed to do so, if that's what I wanted. I'm driving the car a few days to decide. Needless to say I'm a little spooked. It's under full warranty, but I don't want to deal with never ending issues. Any thoughts? Coincidence or dog???

If you are already spooked and they're agreeing to take it back, get another one. You'll always be waiting for "what next?" to happen. Start fresh.

Now that you've gotten all that work out of the way, this one will be bulletproof for 200k miles!

I think your car is just bad luck. This generation V is scarily reliable, usually. I've had no significant issues with my almost 6-month old V wagon, and I had few issues with my 2009 sedan. Hopefully once they get the bugs out, your car will be right as rain.

Dump and refresh. Never marry a car.
Nice of them to offer to change out the car.
I am learning about Cadillac dealer service and appears some of the
Newer more progressive dealerships are rivaling Lexus service.

ya get a new one. No reason to stick with a car that makes you feel nervous.

Was it new or preowned?

It was preowned. 2012 with right at 10k miles. I am told it was a lease return with no prior issues.

In that case, swap it if you can.

I probably shouldn't be driving the car. It's making it very hard to return. Reminds me of the time someone let my wife take a puppy home to see how the kids liked it. He said we could bring it back if it wasn't right for us. That was six years ago and we still have him.

How many miles did they put on the car in the eleven days they had it? I'm just wondering. They called you to get it back, twice. Maybe the only thing really wrong with it is that someone at the dealership had a hard time letting go.

They put about 40 miles on the car while they had it. I've put another 200+ since its been back. No hiccups. Monday is our agreed upon time to render a decision. I'm feeling pretty good about keeping it. This is the first cts-v I've driven. Amazing car.

What'd they do the second time? Yaw rate sensor? Brake control module?

The second time they they replaced the right front hub assembly, cleaned the encoder ring and rewired/replaced the right front wheel speed sensor circuits.

It's just metal and plastic, and may have problems. I wouldn't worry a bit.

Why did they need to drive it 40 miles?

Get lunch, take gf for a ride, take it to the track, etc.

40 miles is a bit much...I'm just saying. 5-10 miles to check major repairs seems reasonable. 40 miles...Thats how much I drive in 3 days to work....I'd be pissed.

I ended up returning the car. The dealership was good enough to accept it back and reimburse my down payment. I found that I was holding my breath waiting for the next problem to arise. It may well turn out that the vehicle is dead reliable from here on in but my confidence was blown. I am now looking for another one.

The car is black diamond. The dealership is Wagner Cadillac, Tyler Tx. I noticed that it's back on the lot.

Lots of fish in the sea. You'll land one, and it'll be a keeper.
