: My ATS with GM accessory wheels

Hi guys. I am a Cadillac CTE at Cable Dahmer in Independence MO. Just sold my 2004 CTS-V to get this ATS because I got a crazy good deal.
It is a performance RWD 2.0 automatic. Has the cold weather package, sunrrof, rear spoiler, black chrome grill, black accessory wheels.
Although not as fast as my V, it is tons more fun to drive and such a nicer car.

Looking good, I like the wheels. How does it ride with the 19's? Too hard or not really noticeable? I have been thinking of upgrading from the 18's. Again nice looking caddy even the old one!

It's noticeably stiffer ride on the 19s. I've got the 17s for winter and the difference between these two is night and day.

I feel as though I should also mention, the Pirelli P Zero is the only RFT that fits this rim.

Either you love the Pirelli or you suck it up and deal with sloppier handling with a non-rft. This sort of is me saying I can't wait for ATS-V suspension upgrades so I can dump RFT's.

I like your car, but after driving the ATS extensively on the track, if you think the ATS 2.0 is 'tons more fun to drive' than your CTS-V was, you were driving it wrong.

I don't think so. I've driven both and the ATS is better balanced. If you don't find yourself wishing on the track that your V was lighter or that the front was as light as the back, you just MAY not be sensitive enough to appreciate some things as well as others do. I can see the appeal of the V but if I had to make the hard choice of tracking a V or an an ATS with comparable tire (and brake ducts), I'd pick the ATS. The Alpha platform is amazing.

So, your confusion over which is more fun is probably that your definition of fun isn't the same as those you disagree with. Some people think hanging the tail out is more fun than the perfect apex and highest mid corner speed. Not saying you are one or the other but neither is wrong because fun is in the eye of the beholder.

I'm actually a professional auto journalist, so I drive cars all the time in a huge variety of situations. I also happen to track drive my V on a regular basis. I don't 'hang the tail out' with my V - it sticks to the track like glue, which is where the fastest lap times are. I've pushed both the V6 and the turbo 4 ATS very hard on a wide open track (Mosport, an old F1 facility), and of course driven the car extensively in daily driving (and a close friend has an ATS 2.0), and while I like the car very much, it's nowhere near as quick as my almost-stock V (swaybars, short shifter), nor does it handle as well.

Of course I wish my V was lighter - my previous track car was a Miata. The Miata was a lot of fun too - a different kind of fun. But that doesn't make the V any 'less' fun.

The Alpha platform is good, but until the car has more power, it's not really capable of besting the V in terms of performance or fun. Fun is of course subjective, as you pointed out.

I didn't deride what you do for a living. I said anyone's profession doesn't automatically mean they know more about a subject than someone who doesn't work in that profession. My example was someone who drove professionally might have a better assesment of cars than someone who writes professionally about cars. You were the one who tried to use profession as a trump. You say something, you own it and better be ready to defend it in a debate without getting hurt feelings.

Regardless of the forum, you gotta expect some negative feedback for being a dick (your words). But I'll assume it was an isolated occurrence. However, just saying forget it doesn't unring any bells. I hadn't heard the GN will be a RWD Alpha. If it's not, its not even close to a twin. If it is, that's great for there to be a lower price alternative.

my thoughts 100%. looking for an 18" wheel down the road a bit. i actually don't mind the OEM 10 spoke 18" wheels for the future.

Google it, it's confirmed. Only unknown is whether they will offer 2 door and which engines will be in them. Most are saying new cts twin turbo 400 hp in GN and corvette motor in GNX.

To clarify my original post. I daily drive both cars and neither have ever seen the track. For my daily driving that occasionaly includes some spirited driving, the ATS is just more fun. It has better size as far as I am concerned. It does not handle better than the V, but it is just more fun.
That being said, I have raced 2nd gen Vs around Circuit of the Americas in Austin and ATS's at two differnet track days. Yes, the V can out perform the ATS when pushed to the limit. Which BTW, I do not do in my daily driving lol

I have sensors in both sets. Without, you get that annoying flashing tire pressure light

If anybody upgrades to the 19's and wants to sell their 18's please let me know. I would prefer the machined ones but willing to get any if the price is right.
