Hi everyone.

I'm doing some research for my dad on a problem that's been occurring recently on his 2000 Catera.

It seems that his car is stalling intermittently. For example, he could start the car up fine, but when he drives for a while and parks the car or stops somewhere for a few minutes (with the car running), the car seems to stall and has a hard time starting it back up again. I believe the last time it stalled, someone had to give him a boost and it started up just fine?

I did a search here and found someone who mentioned that it could possibly be a Cam Position Sensor issue.

Any other suggestions or recommendations would be appreciated.

Thank you.

I would suspect a crank sensor first. Also, check the battery cable connections closely. They also had a tsb for intermittent engine stall due to an IAC valve problem. Fix requires replacement of the IAC valve.

Thanks cadillactech. I'll advise my dad.
