: Motor Mounts V8 from Rock Auto

05-28-13, 11:02 AM
I looked up the motor mounts I need from Rock Auto. How many do I need? (2 or 4) Also the description states front left, awd. Are they all the same left, right etc?

Also if anyone has some nice pictures of the job and tips to get it done using ramps and jackstands (no lift for me :( ).

Thanks for the help. I took off work next week so I can get this done without rushing it.

V6 or V8? When I purchased mine, RA didn't hve them, had to go through a dealer. I believe someone did a write up on this not too long ago. The drivers side should be pretty easy, but I think the passenger side will take some time to get done.

Short upgrade writeup on the V site. Are they the same/enough?

...Or are these upgrades applicable?

I didn't fully read your first post. They are different part numbers for L and R unfortunately. It does seem to be a lot of replacements lately, I wonder if those CTS ones may work.

So what have others done in this case? It seems like all the sites I have gone to have the one side but nothing else.
Almost like it was the same part either way.

Is there a chance that only one side actually needs a new mount? Like the drivers side. I figured the mount that is being pulled would break first over the one that is compressed.

Try contacting rippy, a member on here, or gmpartsdirect.com. or your local dealer.

Chris Heath (of Rippy's Cadillac) is a member of the site and can offer competitive prices on warranteed GM parts. A hard to find part is just as likely to be the one you need as the reverse.

Good luck!

Who said the driver side is easy lol. Negative it's the passenger side that's a cake walk and fwiw cts 3.2 and sts 4.6 use same mounts and so does the first gen cts-v. I put rev shift polys on last week and to be honest would not go back to hydraulic mounts ever. My driver side was just done last October so I'll just swap it on my 03 cts since that engine doesn't have that much buck. And back to the driver side, I didn't remove the manifold like alldata said we removed all 4 15mm bolts from bracket then 21mm off bottom then I worked it out some kinda way but you'll see when you get to that point. You can tilt it down and leave bracket up there and use airtool to remove that top 21mm bolt. I'm here to say the rev shift mount is smaller and will go in easier than the owm size mounts, I'll post pics

I thought it was you that replaced them. I guess I got my sides mixed up with which was easier. Good to know there are other options out there for mounts.

Don't be afraid of the driver side lol. It's not too bad, glad I have a buddy that has a shop with lifts and all the tools we need. We did an alignment on it and it required a tool we never used before till then, it's a tool that adjusts the rear spring cup thingy to the frame
