As I mentionned in a previous message I find that my (1968) lacks power.

I did the compression test , I checked the spark plugs , the wires,
the vacuum advance system : everything OK.

I am considering putting a "electronic distributor" on my 472.
I am talking about the " bolt on" conversion kit which includes a rotor that replaces the points.

What do you think ?
Does the vacuum that comes from the intake manifold still operates in that case ?

Thanks
Bernard

Just get an HEI distributor off a 74 or newer motor. One wire hookup and vacuum advance. I did it on mine. What a difference.....

Another thing is to get rid of the quadrajunk carb.....Put on an edelbrock or carter afb and let it rip. So much power it isn't funny.

Have a 70 deville convertible and now it is a tire squeeling pimpmobile.....with 150K no less on original engine....

The quadrajet is a great carb......if you understand how it works.

Granted, but that last part stops most.... The aftermarket ones do get crappier mileage. I found this out when I replaced mine. (dead q-jet was slated for a rebuild, and still is once I figure out where the heck I put that damn thing)
