Has anyone tried using AC freon do it yourself kit? Uses R134a.

You need to locate your leak so you don't have to continue adding R-134. Often it is the Schrader valve itself. Check both the high and low pressure valve after adding just one can of refrigerant.

You need to have the system checked for leaks. If the system is not cooling well because of a leak it needs to be fixed first. As for the DIY can kit with hose and half azz gauge, it's not worth it. I ALWAYS charge with a proper manifold gauge set and pull a vac on my lines before I open the valves at the shader valves or quick connect fittings. Read your pressures and compare to outside ambient temps. With both high and low pressures you can check for problems with compressor, orfice, restriction and etc. I am very particular when it comes to AC repair. It's not hard but you have to have the right stuff to do properly.

Try a can, I've used them twice. Seems the R134a leaks out over the Winter. I've checked for leaks and nada...
