: X-Mas in May...

Finally scored after about a year of tracking down, making phone calls/emails, and negotiating.

I came home to a UPS Freight tractor trailer with a forklift offloading...

(wait for it)

Long lost Carbon Fiber body panels from the now defunct Spectre Werkes. They still need to be trimmed and cleaned up and they are only skins but nonetheless I've got something to work with.

2 Fenders, 4 Doors, and Decklid

The Fenders had some foam and hot glue on them but thanks to a sharp eye they are actually just fine. In fact if the story is correct, these fenders were used to make the flare kit that was sold to a guy in the Middle East who just so happens to be Naf.

Check it out...

Great! How much weight will this all save you? Cant wait to see it all on.

That's pretty. And functional. Are you going to paint over them or are you going to leave it?

Talk about stealth mode if you paint them! Must be a huge weight savings with all of those pieces!

Thats amazing, great find

More than likely they will be painted to match. These things are really light. The fenders look the easiest to mount up.

I hate you so much right now. :annoyed: We need copies made!

I think you should trim them, and mount them the way they look right now. Paint just adds weight! :)

Can you shoot a few shots from the inside of the pieces. Curious how they molded the inside.

Very nice. I'd imagine those are probably pretty tough to find. (Nu pun intended)

Sure raises the cost of trading paint on the track.

This is awesome... I think paint matched will look the best

paint match would add 5 lbs a panel but would give you that sleeper look.

Skidmarcx

Well I guess since weight reduction is the goal I'd reconsider painting

LOL I think the sleeper look is long gone by now...

Other than the interior and the glass, I'd say that it looks like a stock CTS-V.

Wow that's awesome! If you had the molds, you could reproduce for us and fund your racing!:)

My point is that I am past that stage and there isn't much need for a sleeper look on a race car...

Funny story though, when I came into the pits at Thunderbolt, the pit guys couldn't figure out why I wanted temps for a stock car. Until I got closer and they saw the cage and started laughing.

So, at this point, I think you need to make it your life's goal to get the CTS-V under 3000 lbs without a driver. Whaddya say?

How close is he to that weight?

Currently 3366 empty.

I still have to add some aero, so a wing and splitter are in the cards.

Grand-Am GS class min weight was 3250# in 2004 before it was lowered to 3150# so it is possible

Its the last few pounds that are always the hardest or cost the most...

Wow that's pretty light for such a large car. Have you gone to a fuel cell or are you using the stock tank?

The doors shave the most off and i loved the weight reduction.

U may have to dial in the traction control spark reduction to keep ur tires from slippin all the time

I got a new rear ratio of 3.42 to help my wheel spin

That coment was meant like this, Had I been in the room when those parts showed up I would have broke out my prison shank, and then stole the parts for myself.

haha Just a joke, like the gold jewel encrusted turd from family guy?

Or is it!?

I would paint them, as it's uncertain what time of resin is used to make the panels.

If it's not UV resistant, it will start to yellow and crack, which would make all of us sad.

Just food for thought.
