I had to go to the yard there in IL to get my old truck with nearly 800k miles serviced. While they were working on it, I was checking out their brand new 2014 Peterbilts they just got in. Only 5 of them there.

----------

As I was looking at them, one of the big bosses came out and asked how I liked them. I said I thought they were amazing trucks. He then says, "well, we've decided to give one of these to you for all your hard work".

So, for the first time since I started driving 5 years ago, I'm getting a brand new truck with 50 miles on the clock. A Peterbilt 386.

Sweet, congrats! I've always heard that Peterbilt makes a fine truck. I've heard that the Peterbilts and Kenworths are the "ciass 8 Cadillacs", is that true?

I always liked the old school Peterbilt 379/389 and the 362

Well, I haven't driven this one yet bc they still need to get the computer in it, but I drove a 2013 a few months ago, and it is the only truck I have ever compared to the ride of my STS. It was so smooth. Quiet. Wind noise was non existent. Even that 485 hp Cummins was barely audible at 65 mph. When I drove that truck, it was even bob tail driving. Meaning no trailer. Trucks are designed to have a smoother ride the heavier the load. So I'm anxious to really put it to the test when I move into it next week.

McQueen: Mack! Mack!
McQueen: What? You're not Mack.
Peterbilt: Mack? I ain't no Mack! I'm a Peterbilt, for dang sake!
Peterbilt: Turn on your lights, you moron!

The owner is testing out an all new Pete model called the 579. It's probably going to be the next shipment he orders. Now THIS truck is the rolls Royce of semis if mine is the Cadillac.

This isn't what practical mpg would be. This is just from the owner driving it around town. I'm just showing that awesome color LCD screen.

This trucks stereo is amazing even. Better than my STS. It's got a central 10 inch sub to really seperate the lows from the highs of the rest of the 8 or so speakers. The one I'm getting has an amazing stereo too but a smaller central sub so the lows aren't QUITE as crisp or defined.
