there is a 1993 eldorado for sale by me for 500 OBO, the guy says the interior and exterior are in mint condition. the only problem is that it has a hole in the block (northstar). i located a northstar motor with 81k for 1150 and wondered what kind of a job would it be to swap the motors. just a little leary of the cadillac's famed electronics. any information would help. thanks

If all the electronics work, that's a hell of a deal...I say go for it. :)

You also realize that the swap has to be with another 93-95 Northstar engine? 96 and up will not work. The electronics are different.

true...if the engine you're looking at is usable, its a 1650 dollar 93 Eldo if you do the work yourself, or a bit more if you pay it out...helluva deal, I would say

Actually....you need a 93 or 94 Northstar. The 95 will not readily swap into a 93 due to the one piece plastic intake manifold and revised EGR plumbing. Lots of parts on the 95 would not physically work in the 93. Neither will any of the Northstars from 96 and later.... To make the swap readily doable it would have to be a 93/94 engine you are buying.
