We bought a new '04 SRX one month ago. We immediately realized that the navigation DVD we were given for the system was 3 years out of date. It was worse than worthless.

I suspect everyone out there has an out of date system.

The dealership played hardball with us. We actaully had to have a lawyer who specialized in consumer fraud threaten to have the car returned, before they belatedly gave a current DVD.

So what version is your DVD now? We just bought our 05 SRX friday.

I am trying to find out if we have the latest version DVD for the Navi ...:hmm:

Hopefully we have the correct/up to date DVD

Version 4.0 is the one we got today, after much struggle.

We had 3.0 originally. This is 3 years out of date.

Let me know which you have.

Thanx

Besides the '05 SRX we own, just purchased an '05 CTS-V and ran into the same issue.... Still working on getting the most recent version.

What part # is the Version 4.0 DVD? Is it 10389450 - the DVD that a few members have already ordered from GM? Also, does upgrading to it stop the 1791 code from working?

I spoke to the Cadillac customer relations office today. They say it is Cadillac policy to have the most recent version. I'd call Cadillac customer relations, and tell them your tale of woe, and they might be able to help.

Maybe.

I called our dealership's sales manager about this today. My salesman & service person were unable to help (otherwise great people/service). I'm suppose to get an answer back by COB Wed. Since I bought two 2005's from them this year, I'm expecting them to throw me a bone & track it down. I'll keep you posted.

On the back of the cover that the disc came in at the bottom is reads manual gm p/n: 25767792, then on the far right bottom corner it reads 464210-6090, what do these numbers mean? there is nothing on the front or the back or inside that says anything about whether the disc is 4.0 or 3.0

Cesron7,

It's on the DVD itself.

For what it's worth, I have an '04 with Nav and the version of the DVD is 3.0. I have no qualms with the info on it at all. It shows everything except the VERY newest roads.

This has been an issue with me since buying my 05 SRX in Sept or October (already forgot). Anyway, I have 3.0 but noticed the date. The salesman checked and found out this was most recent. Well....now the new version is out.....and I think we should be entitled to the new version since it was released within months of me getting my car. Why is this such a problem with Cadilac? How about a little customer service??

In the rapidly growing Poenix metro area the out of date disk is worse than worthless; its badly misleading. Misses strtches of freeway that are there, taking you off freeways needlessly and sending you miles out of the way.

They claim it is policy of Cadillac to have each new car sold having the latest disk.

Your salesman and service person could have helped if they had wanted to.

This is not rocket science, and not even neurosurgery.

They are conning you, giving you an outdated disk, and then playing rope-a-dope.

Why is this such a problem with Cadilac? How about a little customer service??

Because its $300/car. Basically, takes $300 profit off the top on any new car.

We asked our salesman why he didn't tell us, and he said: "Nobody would buy it if we did."

And, you believed a car salesman?

I'd like to somehow indepedently verify the date the new one came out.

Everybody who bought after 9/20 should have 4.0.

That is company policy.

However, does it warrant an upgrade on the warranty if car bought before?

Talked to my service manager, the 4.0 is $400.00

:lies:

1. Go to http://www.mygmlink.com (http://www.mygmlink.com/) and download documentation, including the Nav system supplement.

2. Mapping data on all navigation systems are in constant flux and no database is perfect. No matter how current your DVD is, some mapping data or POI's will always change the moment a DVD is pressed. However, if you have about $300 to burn, you may order the latest and greatest Nav DVD for the SRX: part number is 10389450. I paid $276 + tax.

Here is an old thread (http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26882) about the navigation system DVD. It gives the part numbers for versions 3.0 and 4.0 of the disc, and notes that---at least at the time of writing---the 4.0 disc could be ordered from GMPartsDirect.com for $193.

I purchased my Escalade in the end of december and it came with version 3.0, I am going to call customer service on monday and ask for the latest disc. Kind of pisses me off that a 63k truck was sold with out of date disc.

I know how you feel. I took delivery of an ESV Platinum in mid-November. Truck had a June build date and was delivered to me with a version 2.0 DVD map disc. I called the Caddy Owner Center to try to get an updated disc and was told that their policy is that the proper disc is the one that is current as of the vehicle build date not necessarily the delivery date so there was nothing they could do since there was no defect that would be covered under warranty. I argued that since version 4.0 was made available to GM in September that at least version 3.0 would be better than the 2.0 that I got. No luck. They did offer me free oil changes and tire rotations for 2 years/24,000 miles to try to mnake me happy. I cannot believe there is not a consistent way of dealing with this issue.

I called today and was told it is an issue i would have to take up with my dealer, and also that generaly it all depends on build date and that there is probubly nothing they can do. Great, oh well havent noticed any problems with my current 3.0 disc. My truck was built in november of 04 so that should entitle me to 4.0 and I did buy my car Dec 23.
