Gentlemen, I'm in need of a code reader that will work on both my V and my wife's 06 MINI. I would like to use my iPhone. What's a good app that can be bought on the app store?

Also, what's the best way to connect to the OBD-II? I see both cables and bluetooth readers, but I understand not all bluetooth readers are compatible with iPhones.

Would love to hear what you're running and if you can recommend both an app and/or a wired or bluetooth connector?

Thanks!
HAM

Which values are you trying to record?

I use Harry's Lap Timer on my Iphone4 for recording video of autox and HPDE. It can interface with Wifi OBDII dongles and display RPM/Gear/Throttle and record values. My friend has one of these that I played with a bit.

You may want a different app for diagnostics and such.

None of bluetooth adapters work with iOS devices unless it is jailbroken. iOS devices need Wifi obd adapters.
Kiwi 2 wifi is the best wifi adapter, I think. But you can find much cheaper ones on eBay.

Dash command is the only one I'm aware of that allows you to read and clear codes on an iDevice and doesn't need a jailbreak IF you use the kiwi2/plx. If you use the cheap BT readers on ebay you'll need a jailbreak

Thanks, guys. Hearing all this is almost enough to make me switch to Android.

DashBoss is better than DashCommand (or so I hear) ... http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/2009-2013-cadillac-cts-v-performance/296385-newera-hot-air-intake.html#post3384857

I have Rev. Works, but it's annoying as hell trying to get it to read OBD2 data off the Kiwi. Not sure if its a shortcoming of the software or the hardware. Btw, don't buy a Kiwi--get one of the identical generic nuts on eBay and save a bundle.
