So This is talking about the CTS V-Sport right?

Way to choose a horribly confusing name Cadillac.

People have a hard enough time understanding that my 04V didn't come with a super charger, and now we have CTS, CTS V-Sport, and CTS-V to explain to people.

This is talking about the 2nd GEN CTS-V, which will have a short production run in 2014. The article should not have used the V-Sport pictures. Right data, wrong CTS.

The CTS V-Sport will also be produced.

Engine listed is the 6.2 supercharged so it must be the CTS-V we know and love. Not much other news in that tech page from what I gleaned.

VMoose,

Where is concrete data from GM stating that the 2014 CTS-V will have a short production run? I didn't see that published anywhere.

Sorry I should have defined short production run. Less than a year. Orders open in June, cars built and arrive starting September, and orders generally closing in April. And I wouldn't be surprised if they did shorten it more than that. This is based off the emails from my dealer who has been communicating with the factory.

Lexus has the IS F Sport and the ISF. Same situation as this one. For people who know the difference, good. For the ones that don't, does it really matter ? We know what we've got and that's all that matters.

That generic list is pretty comical. They might as well state it comes with doors, windows, and tires. No obvious changes in the 'standard equipment' from previous years.

Just a side question here. Isn't the new 2014 CTS a slightly larger version of the 2013 CTS? So would they actually build two versions of the CTS on the same assembly line or is the CTS-V in a separate plant? Just can't see building them side by side.

Good question, I assume the 3rd gen is built at a different plant?

VMoose,

According to dates I received from the GM DBC, 2014 V-Series production begins on June 10, 2013 until mid June of 2014. Normal production run projected right now with no sign of change to shorten build out.

For others:

Nope, same plant will build ATS, 2nd Gen V-Series and 3rd gen CTS. The plant is able to be flexible like that. They will all be built under one roof at LGR, which is Lansing Grand River Assembly.

2nd gen V Series is built on the Sigma II platform and the new ATS is built on the new Alpha platform with the new 3rd gen 2014 CTS being built on a stretched version of the Alpha platform.

I checked the dimensions of the 2013 and 2014 Sedan and from wheelbase to all of the hip and shoulder room measurements they're identical between the model years.

Sarah,

I think you are referring to the 2013 and 2014
CTS-V but the post you quoted was referring to the all new 2014 CTS and its measurements.

Thanks CTS-V-TWIN

For some reason I just couldn't figure how LGR would be able to build all three platforms (and keep up with production demands). Logistically didn't seem possible, but with todays technology in plant design, I guess anything is possible.
