hey guys im new to the forum and i just got my first caddy about a month ago, its a 1994 cadillac fleetwood Brougham (presidential) it has 69k original miles i changed the spark plugs and fuel filter because the guy i bought it from had the car sitting there for a while soon i need to drain the radiator fluid. the car drives really smooth the transmission is not slipping or anything but at times when i tap on the gas the car hesitates to accelerate and when i let go on the brake the car doesnt even move i have to tap on the gas in order to move it a little bit but its kinda odd because i really have to have a heavy foot on the gas in order to move it. but when it reaches speed she seems very powerful maybe about to 20mph.. can you guys give me any help or advise PLEASE!!!! i dont want to sell her:canttalk: because i fear the longer i wait the worse its gonna get... i also checked the transmission fluid it seems okay.

Welcome,
I am not expert by any means but I still have some advices for you to troubleshot what's wrong with your cool ride . Well, check the error codes if not it might be as simple as a clogged fuel filter . Distributor cap, ignition system also needs to be checked

i check the error codes on the AC unit right? i was driving her all day today and it didnt hesitate at all it does it sometimes. and also im noticing a strong smell of gasoline when i turn off the car, theres no leak on the gas tank or anything. i dont know if thats normal for a LT1. like i said its my first caddy:) soo all this is a new experience for me.

What I would do now is get a fuel pressure gauge, check the pressure and check to see if it holds pressure when shut off. You could have a leaking injector[s]. Harbor freight has a cheap one for $20, that's works great for this check..

Where are you smelling the gas from? Engine bay or exhaust? If its from the exhaust, I'd say you're misfiring and running very rich. If its from the hood, I'd say you have a leak somewhere or its backfiring. Another quick check is to pull the plug wire off the coil and make sure that connection is looking good.
