Hey I see your V has side vents in the fenders. They only did that for 08 and 09. And the fact that the word "supercharged" appears leads me to believe it's an 08, not an 09. Of course that stuff can be added on. Definitely an 07?

I added the vents myself. I like the look it gives the car on the 08 so I decided to add them. There isnt too much on this car to change or mod. It has everything I want in a car already.

I didnt buy that one because it didnt seem like it was taken care of. The rear mesh grill looked rusted, it did not have the engine covers, and the tires were really bald. It did drive good but it just seemed to have to many cosmetic issues I didnt like.

I was wondering who picked up that one from Rogers Miller Chev.

Dean is a good service manager in my family's opinion. But truth be told the Tech's just don't know Cadillac well... Especially the 05+ STS and V series they are just over their head. They did OK with my 02 Deville DTS.

I've posted a lot of my experience with them and my (non V) STS in the STS side of the site.

Was that a vanity plate on it or just a normal plate? I recall it being different than normal MN plates.

Thats a nice 2006 with only 36000 miles on it. There was a blue 2007 for sale in Minneapolis when I was looking for mine. It was a really nice one but they were asking like 27-28 k for it.

any of you mn guys know a good place to buy tires, specifically general g-maxx tires? The best deal I can find so far is tirerack.com set of 4 general g-maxx tires for 700 and change.

Mine came with the general gmaxx as03 tires that seem to work well on this car.
Any tire shop should be able to have tire rack ship to them.

Yeah that is probably what ill do. Do you like those tires? Have you had them during tbe winter? How do they perform?

Ludacrisvp
05-26-13, 02:41 PM
They do very well in the rain.
I did run then all winter long I think the traction is rather good for all season tires in the snow. I would say they are comparable to the Goodyear assurance triple tread that I had on my previous cars. They will likely be replaced with these same tires when the tread is gone. But with any tires it depends on a driver that knows how to drive the car.

I do have the AWD model STS so it's hard for me to break them loose. But they corner well and road noise is low from them.

If you plan on driving the STS-V year round in MN I would suggest another set of rims with snow tires. I drove my 2005 STS V8 RWD here and snow tires were really nice to have.

That was my car I traded into them. Trust me it was well taken care of when I had it and was properly serviced. I gave the dealership all the service records I had for it. As far as the tires being bald someone must of used it after me as they all still had 7+/32 on them. The reason it didn't have an engine cover is because it had an intake put on the car. I might still have it of you really want it. It sounds like they let to many people drive the car after I got rid of it. I picked it up from Missouri originally. Questions about it feel freer to pm me as I'm not on here anymore and I'll get an email. I was wondering who bought it. Have fun with it

So I have my STS in there now for some service and was talking to them about the V that they had.
The tech I was talking to worked on it, he said it needed quite a bit of work when they got it in.

He mentioned it was in a front end collision of some kind as there was overspray all over it.
He did mention that the supercharger coolant was really low and the car kept on going into 4-cylinder limp mode due to cooling issues.
From what he could tell none of the cooling fans worked either.

Obviously they had to fix the cooling system but just a heads up should you see some issues with supercharger coolant or temperature problems.

Now this could have been a different STS-V than the one you bought or he was mis-remembering the issues it had just putting it out there.

Hey Ninja, what kind of issues and miles do you have on your STS-V? Just wondering, I've got 82,000 on mine and it was a two owner, first owner was basically GM (a company car) for 5,000 miles and then it was auctioned off. The new owner took it to the same dealer for everything and I was able to get get all maintenance records for all work done, so pretty nice knowing history of the car. This car loves wheel hub bearings!

Laura,
I need to take some more pictures, the ones I have seem too big to post on this thread, I'll see what I can do. As far as why I love this car soo much, where should I begin...
It's a Cadillac! , American made, styling, Power, Class, luxury, Navigation, DVD, Bose sound, really,? Bone stock this thing runs like a "scalled dog" this is nothing less than a luxury race car. And limited edition at that, so really, why do I love this car, if I had the money, I would have a spare to take to car shows.
I came across the posting from the car dealer I bought the car from...

Thanks, I thought so, I'm pleased after looking at the others I came across, this was by far the nicest one. I found several salvage/rebuilt titles, and some that were just ran the dog piss out of. I'm thinking exhaust is the only mod for mine, I think I order to keep it very dependable, the fine engineers at the cadillac performance division knew what worked best.

Drove mine all last winter. Only got stuck once. Needed weight in the trunk then it was fine in the snow. I had conti dws tires which seemed great in fresh snow but a little loose on ice. Ended up giving my winter beater to my daughter so drove the v more than I thought I would. The heated seats and wheel are fantastic. Also started better than my wife's newer suburban in the cold.

Guy.Seminerio
09-04-13, 10:03 PM
How much weight did you put in the trunk. The only I can foresee now is ground clearance especially with the d3 lowering springs.

bigburban
09-04-13, 10:32 PM
2 60 pound bags of sand. When I got stuck it was in about 4 inches of fresh snow. Where I live the management was very slow about plowing the parking lot I had to drive through to get out the main road. I think I would have made it if I didn't try and drive forward. I went fine in reverse, But had problems pushing the wide front tires through the snow. The car is heavy and without the help of three other people I would have been there for a while. Was an hour late to work which was hard to explain as it is only 15 minutes by foot from home to work.

Laura M.,
Forgive me if have posted this in the wrong area or it has been addressed elsewhere, but Is there any type of "Build Certificate" that we "STS-V" owners can get for our Elite cars? I recently went to a car show and notice several cars with such things from the factory on cars that have two and three times the amount of builds as our cars. Just curious, thought it would be really nice to show a # or such on our "Elite ". Thank you, 264WOODY

Where is Cadillac Customer Service on this? It doesn't seem to be too complicated and very doable. And I know Cadillac can do it. I wonder how many are still on a road. I must say that the tango interior was a huge gamble. It would look better with Recaro seats, and not with plush Cadillac interior. Saw one before I bought mine, and it didn't impress me. Matter of taste I guess.

If they do have anything they will likely be something like what the Monte Carlo SS Pace Cars were like.

Here is an example of one.

http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_images/1/2324/4881/5809940005_large.jpg

Basically GM or perhaps some 3rd party company printed them ONE time for each type of limited production car.
It has your VIN and which number your car was out of the production group.

Many people have tried to get GM to reprint them as the original owners of the cars either didn't care to keep them, or lost them or chose not to include them in the sale of the car to the next owner.

They made:
'00 Red - 2,222 - 2 tone Ebony & Red "tango" interior... red on steering wheel, shifter, center of seats, door panels, embroidered headrests.
'01 Black - 1,300 - 2 tone Ebony & Silver interior... silver on steering wheel, shifter, center of seats, door panels, embroidered headrests.
'02 Yellow - 1,150 - 2 tone Ebony & Silver interior... silver on steering wheel, shifter, embroidered headrests only.
'03 Blue - 1,401 - 2 tone Ebony & Silver interior... silver on steering wheel, shifter, embroidered headrests only.

Perhaps this is more than anyone here really cares to know about but there are certainly some nice things for cars that would generally be considered to be much less prestigious than the STS-V is.

Sweet, I'm going with the plasti-dip on the wheels as well, I have an extra set of wheels I may go with a different color on them. Is there any suggestions on things I should know before doing the wheels other than the obvious make sure they are "CLEAN" . Did you use rattle can or did you use their gun to shoot yours with? Thanks,

I used the rattle can, but will be redoing everything with a spray gun in the future. The best way would be to take the wheels off to spray them but I did it with them on and its fine. I will take them off next time though.

Hello 264WOODY,

No need to worry about asking questions at all, that’s what Laura and I are here for! Triple A Enterprises (www.window-sticker.com) can handle requests for window stickers, but I do not believe that Cadillac models are available for purchase through them. I apologize that I am not aware of another way to get a reprinted window sticker, but if you were looking for the list of the RPO code on your vehicle build sheet, I would be more than happy to provide you with a list of those in a private message. You can just go into your trunk, pull back the carpet, and on the spare tire cover, or in the basin, is a sticker called a "Service Parts Identification List". It is about the size of an index card. On there it will list every RPO your car comes with.

Here are the common ones on this car based on what I am getting for the registry;
1SA - STS-V Package
1SZ - Preferred Equipmment savings
6LL - Left hand front suspension
7LL - Right hand front suspension
9ZM - Suspension
AQ9 - front buckets
AY0 - SRS airbags
CF5 - Express open sunroof
CJ2 - Auto HVAC system
DR2 - Heated side mirrors
FE4 - Suspension
FE9 - 50 state emissions
GU5 - 3.23 rear axle
IL4 - Interior specific trim
J56 - Brembos
KG4 - 150 amp alternator
LC3 - No idea what this is :p
MYC - A6
NT9 - Federal Emissions
NR7 - Our failed heated steering wheel
Q19 - V specific tire sizes
Q20 - V specific wheels
R8E - Gas Guzzler tax
R9N - Leather
TQ5 - Intellibeam
U2K - XM Satellite
U30 - V specific instrument panel
UE1 - Onstar
UG1 - Universal home remote
UY5 - 15 speaker system
YQ4 - Bose stereo

Interior colors
194 - Ebony
191 - Ebony trim
674 - Ebony/Tango Red
671 - Ebony/Tango Red Trim
134 - Light Gray
131 - Light Gray/Ebony Trim

Exterior Colors
41U - Black Raven
67U - Light Platinum
XXU - Thunder Gray Metallic (I don't know what the code is on this)

If your car came from Commifornia, you may also see;
NU4 - California emissions
VG6 - California 5 mph bumper label.

It's not about the codes or options list. This V is a limited production Caddy that even esurance would not insure due to its rare kind so we would like GM to certify this fact.

Above (starting at post #64, and then post #66), it was asked that they (the Cadillac customer service team of Laura and Greg), look up the RPO's on a specific car (264 Woody's), given the VIN#. No need for them to do that when you have your list of RPO's already in your car. Just open the trunk.

Oh ok. I was talking about something. Sometimes all you have is the VIN to work with and no car.

Actually, I was looking for a certificate for our rare cars, and then I asked if i could get a copy of the Origional window sticker, the purpose of the window sticker was not so much the RPO's but the other information on the vehicle as well, like PRICE,miledge, and just curious how the car was marketed on the sticker. Kinda silly I know, but I would take as much information as I could get on them, and a list of RPO's was OFFERED.

Hello 264WOODY,

Were they able to give you any information on if a certificate was available for your vehicle? If they didn’t let you know if it was available or not, please let me know and I will do some additional research with other internal resources of mine to see if this would be available.

Thank you Gregory,
Thus far the only information i have been able to receive is a list of RPO's, I am still holding out on an " Official Certificate that says OUR CARS are limited production and better than everyone else's." He He He. I know, a bit childish, but I guess I'm still just in Awww of this car. Thanks for all you and Laura have been doing in this matter.

Today I received a phone call from John Kramer with the Cadillac STS-V department, he explained that he was understanding that this matter had been resolved when the heritage department contacted me with a list of RPO's. After some further discussion he is full aware of my fondness of this vehicle and is aware of the type of certificate ( "Credentials" if you will ) that myself as well as some others on this forum are looking for and said that he will look further into this matter, and continue to reach out to more resources, he also enlightened me on some other events I may be interested in, but I believe that is for another thread. Thank you for reaching out again in this matter, the support from Cadillac is still everything I think it should be. Thanks again.

Who is your insurance carrier? Maybe you already said.

I have State Farm and they never questioned anything about the car. I think they did ask if it was a "V with the 4.4L Supercharged V8".

But now some 3 years down the road, the only thing I get asked when I call to pay my bill, is if there have been any claims made.

State Farm here as well. The events the "V" department rep. (John) was telling me about was from what I gather is a "V" enthusiast get together in different locations around the country. there is some rally racing I believe, but not sure , he is going to send me more information on this, but sounds like something that I would like as well as really bring the "V" community even closer.

I was referring to Esurance. I'm sure you won't have a problem using State Farm but it costs more. I recently switched from geico and saved a ton. Esurance initially gave me a good quote but later said they wouldn't insure the V due to its cost. And I'm talking full coverage of course.

Yea, they've done a couple things around the country. Someone here added many of us to a mailing list (as I get them frequently), and then Cadillac sets up events too. They recently did a members/owners only thing at the Autobahn course in Joliet.

Depends. I've been with State Farm 27 years, obviously have multiple cars, two homes, and contents covered by them. I don't actually pay a lot at all for coverage on the V. I think I actually pay more on the wife's Chrysler mini-van semi-annually.

I have state farm. I'm 27 and I pay 147$ a month. It was 168$ when I got my V 4 years ago I trade my old 06 Tiburon which was 317$ per month. Crazy how that works lol

I now pay $200 a month for two cars (2014 Grand Cherokee and 2008 STS-V). I think it's an awesome deal for NYC.

Great SUV! Awesome 8-speed ZF transmission and feels very upscale. And it's not as big as Tahoe. And it's a Jeep. High tech options are great too. I spent months shopping around for an SUV and I'm very pleased. Looked at M/B ML, BMW, MDX, RX350, Infiniti, Range Rover and Lincoln MKx. Love the LED headlight accents, remote start and heated/ventilated seats. Leather is also of great quality. Sits high and soft.
