I bought a V. Ever since, I've owned a V of some sort, in some shape.

My '04 was sold a year ago and has made its way to forum member farsighted770(or something like that).

My '09 sold today. I am now without V. And I'm sad...

Hmm, perhaps get a truck...and pull a nice toy. There's no real substitute for the CTS-V. The wife and I test drove a new Maxima, she loved it...now to find a GTR. A buddy of mine is selling all his Supras for one.

Should I Zaino mine and vac it out?

Tbjs without a V? It's hard to believe. On the good side, glad you sold it because I knew you were trying.

You could pick up a V1 to tide you over till either the V3 comes out or the ATS-V and sell it for minimal loss.

What's your plan?

I've made a big lifestyle change in the past year. That limits my time with work. This all coincided with my new company(the one I was with for 15 years got bought out by this new one in Feb '12) squeezing out many of us who work as contractors.

For the record, my time I volunteer is very rewarding. It's just a shame I have to give up the V...

The ls6 is more exclusive... It was only ever used an the c5 zo6 and the 04-05 V. The is ls2 is un lovingly known as a truck Motor cuz of its use in the trailblazer ss.

When I was test driving V1's, the only real difference I noticed was that at idle the LS6 engines all sounded like they had bent valves, and the LS2's didn't.

This is my car I bought on autotrader last August. I saw the 8,900 mile one you are probably talking about, black with tan interior for like $26,900. I paid 25 for my black/black 04. 900 mile V1? Damn..

Edit: Here it is...has new tires on it with 900 miles? Kinda weird, but $14k more for 8,000 miles less...no thanks. Lol I was hoping I had one of the lowest mile v1's around but I guess not.

I'm sure you've answered this before but what were the biggest differences going from a v1 to v2?

My dad loves my 05 V and wants to buy one as a garage queen with the intentions of keeping it forever(or possibly a long term investment). I'm trying to convince him a V2 wagon would be a better buy, as far as an investment.

Which one would you want back today?

thebigjimsho
06-12-13, 08:16 PM
V1.

The V2 is better in every way. Just not in character. Except for a MT Vagon, an LS6 powered V, especially an '04, should be worth the most decades from now. I thought that in '04. I believe that now.

But if you ever see a great deal on a Vagon with MT and Recaros, you WILL see a valuable return down the road. Guaranteed! It's a cult car now, while still in production!

I know a guy selling a 2011 vagon with 21k miles for $45k. It has MT And recaros. He's going through a divorce and needs it sold fast. I'm thinking he would take 39k(cash).

You think it's worth that kinda investment.

You can't buy it as an investment. Will it be worth more... Who knows. Will they still be selling gas at that point? Buy it, drive it and enjoy. The only way things are worth dough or he investment is super low number products. A friend of mine has an '02 WS6 sitting in his garage with the rear grenaded that he won't fix and won't drive "because it will be worth money one day."

Well since Cadillac doesn't plan to continue the V wagon, I feel the prices will only go up In the future. Plus the Vagons with MT is by far the rarest V2 available.

I truly feel a V2 wagon with under 40k miles will sell for over 50k in the future(let's say 2020).

I disagree on the Vagon. Kept to low miles with such a low production run, I bet the lowest you'll ever see a Vagon go for is low $30s. I've seen a couple of early Vs with under 12k miles listed for high $20s. I'd pay that. And if kept low, should start going up soon.

Sounds like your friend is being cheap and using that as an excuse. There's a million F Bodies out there. The least he could do is actually fix it to be worth money.

ahahnu
06-16-13, 10:08 PM
I won't deny he is cheap. I suggested he fix it so we can go on power tour next year. He gave me a bunch of bs about fixing it. Waste if you ask me.

As far as collectibility, look at all the cars that are stock or original and still being restored. Or people taking a virgin original and tearing it up or modding the hell out of it. I also don't have the dough to just buy cars or other "collectibles" to just let something sit. Plus everyone now keeps stuff with hopes it would be worth something. Things now are only worth something because no one used to keep stuff therefore there are few out there making them more collectible and worth money.

I will never get rid of my V. I don't keep it because it was only made one year with the engine / color combo with a rare color. I do it because I love the car and enjoy driving it.
