: debating on getting my resonator removed

I've been kicking around the idea of taking my car to a shop and replacing that with a straight pipe. Anybody done that? I wonder how much louder it would make it.

Welp no more debating. I did it. Sounds a little better. But not enough. I'm gonna get some flowmasters installed.

Let us know how that affects performance. I knew a bunch of guys got their rides all China'd up, sounded great, coffeecan tailpipes, etc. but acceleration went into the toilet...

I like the sound alot! And performance hasn't seemed to change. I'll test further tho

Performance won't be effected.

I wouldn't think so. Still got back pressure. Just a different throaty one. Lol

The stock exhaust isn't very restrictive, even straight pipe from the cat back would only give you 1-2 HP at WOT, at redline.

I just let my 19 year old cousin take this for prom. He was geeked. The exhaust was an added touch.

My resonator scrapes my driveway peak. Shops would not try to tweak bend some brackets so they said to just cut the resonator out. The wife freaked. Right now I have a cement man cutting the cement to level the peak and hopefully gain me the clearance I need. Plan B is to cut out the resonator as a last resort but I do want to change any exhaust vibration in the car or have a rumbling exhaust. I understand you wanted a deeper throatier sound. So was the video made after you changed the mufflers?

Yes. With the resonator removed it was only a fraction louder like maybe 10%

Thanks for reply. That might be the edge I need to convince the wife we have to remove the resonator in case the cement job does not work out.

No problem. I definitely have a unique caddy now with the way it sounds haha
