: Maximum Performance Mods to Safely Maintain a DD?

I have a bone stock '11 Vagon that I am interested in modding. I'm looking to get the best 0-60 and 1/4 mile times, while maintaining the vehicle as a safe, reliable daily driver. I do not plan to track the car. Quite frankly I just want something that's going to blow away 99% of the other vehicles on the road. What kind of mods should I go with, and what is a ballpark estimate on cost for parts, install, and tune?

Upper pulley. Intake and a dyno tune.

1000 to 1500 bucks. Should pick up 70+ hp with stock like characteristics.

Price will vary a little depending on who does the tune and install. With over 500 whp there is t a lot out there that will be faster stock.

Not sure if that was a typo and you meant to say that with over 500 WHP there is not a lot out there that will be faster than stock, or that you meant there WOULD be a lot out there faster than stock. Anyway, the set up I'm looking at besides the upper pulley, intakes, and dyno tune are ID850 injectors, NGK TR7IX plugs, solid isolator, SC belt, and 160* t-stat. Right now I have a quote for that for approximately $3700, parts, install, and tune.

Aren't you already traction-limited from a stoplight?

IMHO the most effective first mod is going to be lightweight, wider wheels and sticky tires. The hard part is getting them to fit. :D

You can EASILY make over 700 rwhp and still have the V as a DD. it really is just a function of your budget...

I'm at 640 rw at about 10k parts and labor (and she sounds & behaves very close to stock). If I added heads & exhaust (another 5-6k in parts & labor), I'd be over 700rw & drivability would still be mild mannered

as stated for a dd. upper 2.5 pulley, solid isolator, 160* stat, catch can, cai, and a GOOD tune by a reputable ls tuner. and any sound enhancement exhaust system you deem desirable. $3500.00 give or take for 'out the door'... all parts and install.

end game it with heads/cam...just make sure you have the correct tuner for the job.

Yes. That should have read isn't not is t. Sorry about that.

If you are going to do injectors(not needed with just 2.5 upper) then you might as well do both puppies and a heat exchanger. As you can imagine....tuning these cars is a slippery slope.

'upper pulley and cold air, with a tune.. That is the best for longevity and drivability. After that point it starts costing a lot more for smaller gains.

Hmm, the quote I received minus the cost for a HX ($700) and to install it ($400) would still put total parts and labor at just over $5K.

Wow. Pulley and isolator should be about 200. Intake around 325. Tune shouldn't be more than 500.

Lets say 10 hrs of labor?!?! That's likely on the high side. That is less than 2000 for sure. If you want exhaust for so noise expect to spend another 1000 to 1500.

Have fun

I'm waiting on a quote for a package from Tune Time Performance.

^ Thats who I think i maybe going with. I really want to do a Cam and possibly port the heads as well but im on the fence about cracking the motor open still.

I would go with a cam, pulley swap, and a tune. Those are the basics which separate us from the ZR1's power: more boost, more fuel, different cam etc.

dont forget a meth kit. If you are lookin to make safe hp the shelf meth kits are good for you, devils own or snow will be quick and easy...

Coolin mist is upgradeable and has more options but for the price you cant beat a snow performance

2011 Vagon daily driver baught new with 55,000 miles on it now. Car only had 5,000 miles when I had this work done: heads, ported blower, modifies stock intake,cam,upper/lower pullies, injectors, bigger throttle body, headers, free flow cats into stock mufflers & tune. Final #'s 663 rwhp / 680 rwtq & worth every $$ If you are looking to better 90% of the cars this is what it might take. Good luck & make sure you find a knowledgable tuner to do you're work.
