I ordered some new DRL's and had my dealer change them out awhile back. The right headlamp housing started to collect condensation so the dealer ordered new one. The ding dong forgot to re-install my new DRL :bigroll:. Now I've got some side by side comparison. Going back tomorrow to get the other reinstalled and have my summer tires put on.

This is what I ordered:

5202 H16 CREE LED Plasma Projector Fog Lamp Daytime Running Light DRL WHITE 11W

I found them on ebay.

How long have you had them installed? I have been dying to get rid of those ugly yellow DRL's, but am worried about the longevity of the aftermarket CREE LED. The stock DRL's are much brighter, but the LED's look sooo good.

I like it a lot. I drive with lights turned manually on all the time for 2 reasons. 1. I hate the look if the factory drl's and 2. My tail lights are blacked out and having the tail lights on keeps the police off my back.

Looks good. Might have to do that!

I've had them installed since beginning February.

From the research I've read, it may be the watts that are the issue. The 5 and lower watts appear to burn out in a short period of time. I went with 11 watts.

Wow definitely looks ten times better ! how hard is the install? how much did they charge at the dealership ?

The front bumper has to be removed. There is an excellent write-up somewhere in the forum on how to remove the bumper for the DIY. The dealer did the install for 170.

^doesn't really matter if they're bright as they're DRLs (only for other cars to see you). I think it cleans up the front, I will buy new ones once I get an actual garage to remove the front.

What does install entail? Pulling the bumper or just peeling back the wheel well liner?

If you want to change out your fog's (which I recommend) then all you have to do is pull back the wheel well liner. Need to remove bumper to do the DRL's.

Here are my before and after of the fogs. Hoen H11 xenonmatch bulbs

So the front fascia removal requires drilling out 4 rivets. What do you use in place of them when you reinstall?

thanks to nathan at the other 'site.' can't do direct link. The write up includes bumper removal.

Swapped the DRLs yesterday. Look great and bright enough especially when really necessary at dusk. Replacing the bumper is kind of a pain when reassembling the brake ducting but not impossible.

so what type of LED's did you use? if you ordered from the same guy they come from Hong Kong and it took around 2 weeks for me to receive.

And don't forget to post pic's.

I did the same as you. The 11W bulbs from HK. Seem like nice products.

For what it's worth, you can change the drivers side bulbs by removing the airbox. Not sure how hard it is to remove/move the fuse and relays on the passenger side though.

So, this weekend I installed the LED lights from that ebay link and I would seriously recommend going with a different brand.

I spent half an hour trimming excess plastic off the bulb so the connector could plug in. When I finally got it installed, the lights are barely bright enough to be seen. They are visible only at certain angles but 90% of the time, it looks like the lights are off.

I love the look of mpouls1's DRL but mine don't look anything like that, I dont know if I got into a bad batch of them or something.

I found some 360 degree LED's that I'm gonna try next so we'll see what happens.

BUT, the Hoen Xenonmatch's look great!!!

If I could understand the packaging (from Hong Kong) we could possibly be able to compare. Man that sucks. Please let us know how these new lights work out and of course pictures.

After a bunch of emailing, found out that I screwed up! The bulbs I ordered were 7W, but the seller (cortse) is replacing them for free. Turns out they have several different wattage bulbs so she is fixing my screw up for free with some 16W bulbs instead! OEM is 19W so I'm thinking the 16W should be good. Still a little nervous about how the connector is gonna plug into the bulb but I cant complain after they took care of this for me. But definitely will post some pics when I get them in.

Success!! 16W LED bulbs from HK are in and they look great, just as bright as the stock bulbs.

I've noticed my right LED sporadically stops working. Sometimes it's on, other times it's off when it should be on. The left side always works fine. Any ideas?

I noticed the same thing on our '08 last week! I only noticed it once on the left side. Hasn't happened since so I chalked it up to a loose connection. Now you've got me wondering if it's a product defect or something.

Great info here guys,

I would like to change out my fogs as well. Went on Hoen's site and it says they are backordered. Did you guys buy them off their site or elsewhere? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Also, where is the fuse located for the DRL's, I'm going to disconnect mine instead of trying to replace them.

Thank again,

Tony

DRL fuses are in the box on the passenger side of the engine bay...up by the grille. You remove the cover and you'll see all the fuses. There is a fuse schematic so you can find the right two on the inside of the cover.

Yes, I bought the foglights directly from the Hoen website.

For anyone interested, I've found that one DRL LED is off sometimes when it should be ON. However, toggling the turn signal on that side turns the LED ON after the signal stops. Must be a wiring gremlin when using the LEDs.

so are others having the problem with the LED DRL's not coming back on sometimes? I know they go off with the signal and then are supposed to come back on after the signal turns off. Just wondering before I pull the trigger on these.

Dont, no company has made a reliable DRL bulb for our Vs, that will last for more then a few months of a time. Not worth the hassle IMO.

DRL LED bulbs on my Evo X required special error free Resistor ballasts to keep the voltage from fluctuating and killing the bulbs. Without the Error Free ballasts the LEDs would die.

Before you pull the trigger, the front bumper needs to be pulled off. As he said there is no really good bulb brsnd that wont burn out. Every watt I have seen has went out. Exchange at your own risk. Or just consider pulling the fuse
