View Full Version : 2006 CTS - Catalytic converter warranty?

Hello to all - I have an '06 CTS with the 6 cylinder motor, and today I threw a P0430 MIL. I read somewhere in this forum that the exhaust system is warranteed for 80,000 miles by Cadillac. Is that just for the original owner? My car has 74,000 miles on it and I bought it used. I will add that I recently replaced the #2 coil, and only drove the car for about 50 miles before I got it fixed. I know a misfiring cylinder can damage a cat, but do you think 50 miles would really hurt it? Last question- Bank 2 - which cat is that? Thanks in advance for the help. BTW - I cancelled the code, but I am sure that it will eventually come back on, and while the car is running fine now, I want it to be right so as not to do any further damage.

the warranty follows the car, not the owners

there will be mileage and time (years/months) limits to the warranty ... you might be out on time if you're not out on miles

you can call any dealer and ask them to run your VIN and let you know what the warranties are

Not that it matters for your particular question, but there is a forum for the V6 cars (http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/cadillac-cts-first-generation-forum-2003/).

The exhaust system is not warrantied for 80,000 miles, but the catalytic converters are. I verified that using a search engine called Google. Federal law (per the EPA) says 8 years and 80,000 miles (http://www.epa.gov/obd/pubs/420f09048.pdf). Note that document was last revised late in 2012.
