I'm looking at a used '96 Fleetwood from California. I'm in Wisconsin and don't have emissions testing here. Are there any extra emissions gadgetry on the california car vs any other car in the US that I need to be concerned with?
Also, anyone have tips on buying a car long distance? It is an individual, not a dealer. Shipping was reasonable, around $550. Little nervous on sending that much money to someone I don't know, hoping I get a car with a title.

Honestly, I'd recommend a trip out there. I'm not a huge fan of buying a car blind. As for Emissions, while Cali is tougher, the parts wont be a liability. Have any friends out in Cali? Or perhaps convince one of our Cali members to look at it for you.

Sorry, that's Northern California.
I would contact a local Cadillac dealer and arrange the car to be delivered to them, on your behalf. Very important. ON YOUR BEHALF.
Contact the service manager, and ask him to look it over mechanically. Also ask him if the used car manager can give his opinion as to the value and condition.
It would be cheaper than flying to California.
But before that, get the VIN and run a Carfax on it. It might uncover something that would end the deal.
