Im on the hunt for a previously loved v coupe. My issue is that i would prefer to stay away from first model year of any model. Is there any known issues on the 11 coupes that may have been fixed for 2012 model year??? thanks.

There really isn't anything new about the coupe other than the body panels. I don't know if there are any differences at all but see if others chime in.

If I remember correctly, most initial bugs that plagued the sedan in 09 was fixed on 11 coupes. I'm not aware of any more reliability issue on 11 coupe than 11 sedan/12 coupe or sedan.

There is some feature difference though. Rainsense wiper for example was deleted for 11 model year, if that matters to you.

I think the RainSense wipers and Blind Spot Warnings were new for '12.

I had both. Both were/are excellent. I was glad to get the Rainsense wipers back and add the blind spot warning.

If you are looking for an automatic tranny, the 2012 has upgraded faster upshifts. I have a 2012 A6( auto) sedan( same tranny as the coupe & wagon) & it shifts very quickly with no lag either in auto mode or when using the paddles for manual shifting.

Well, actually, the 2009 sedan had remarkably few bugs and those same bugs continue to plague the forum five model years later. :) (wheel clickies and supercharger marbles).

OP, you would be well served by either a 2011 or 2012 coupe. If you really want Rainsense (I had it on my 09 sedan and now my 13 wagon, and it is useful) and the blindspot markers, get the 12. I have driven a coupe and found that if you adjust the mirrors properly, you lose the blind spot that the 12's Blind Spot warning warns you about, so no great loss there. You should adjust the side mirrors properly in any car, anyway.

Thanks for the input. I have an 08 cuts and had some small first year growing pains. I do indeed enjoy the rain sense option.

Which way is the intelligent way?

Great (and entertaining, in the internet thread disaster way) link! I won't threadjack this thread further, though.

The next gear is preloaded as you upshift on the 1/2, 2/3, 3/4, 4/5 up shifts. It's definitely software & maybe hardware differences. Other's have inquired if a software update was available for previous years (2011 & earlier) from GM, & the answer is no.

Suppose it is just a software update. What is to stop us from obtaining the software file and uploading it to our cars through the OBD2 port?

My '13 has two piece front rotors. Not sure if that was a change '12 though.

I don't know the answer to that, but I think someone else on here inquired about doing just that, & the answer was prior years cannot be retrofitted. Just hearsay though, so who knows.
