: What is the coolest feature of CUE?

I am picking up my 2013 SRX at the end of the week. I had found a really good deal on a 2012 Premium SRX, but I opted for the Lux 2013 so that I could have the CUE system.

I had a very quick (20 second) show from the salesman . . . but I want to know what everyones personal favorite thing about CUE? Is there something you really really like that it does ? Or something that just has that coolness factor?

This is a great way for me to see some of the nice things in CUE. The write about what CUE is and what it does on the Cadillac website (And many other sites) is very minimal. .

Also: I have an iphone. Does it do anything regarding texts, emails? Facebook? Twitter? (If I recall the Ford system does all of these? curious if CUE touches them)

The goal for CUE was to bring the tablet/smartphone like intuitive controls to a vehicle infotainment system. Since the update, iPhone users get Siri pass thru, but it is still required to hold the "home" button. With this feature, you are able to ask Siri to "read my messages" and have the option to reply.
Useful features include:
Pandora
Customizable Home Screen and Shortcuts
Valet Mode
Capacitive Controls - tap, hold, swipe, pinch, spread.
Proximity Sensing is cool, but I prefer to have the shortcuts always showing (this can be changed in settings)
My favorite is the 5-way controller on the steering to reconfigure the DIC, and to search my phonebook/browse playlists, but is almost unnecessary with Natural Voice Recognition.

Like all software it has its bugs, but Cadillac was aiming for the next best thing, not the better current thing. CUE is all about customization and making the Cadillac YOURS. It deserves a standing ovation in my opinion. Other GM Brands have similar systems, but its not the same. They need something as simple to use in more affordable models for Gen Y. Chevy's Spark and Sonic are the closest and probably have the most features.

My suggestion is to ask your dealer if they have a CTE or Technology Specialist of some sort and set an appointment to go over the entire system. You can literally spend hours and never learn everything about CUE. Congratulations on your new car!

Thanks Chris, for the great info!

I have read that there are rumors that new apps will be available down the road. That would be really cool

I should be picking up my new SRX on Thursday afternoon. Very excited to learn CUE

Rumors are just that...rumors. I am surprised they don't already have wifi hotspots built in to Cadillac models. Chevrolet already made it available.

There is an App Store in there its just not enabled. Just like the SMS Texting app I have on mine that only freakin works with blackberries LOL There is a ton of stuff in there that isnt turned on or completely setup yet, I had a custom Skin on mine for a day before I went back to the classic CUE version.

How did you get a custom skin on CUE? See no where where this is addressed or accessed...

It's not, its all custom programming.

Why in hell can't you help the lost souls at GM out a little? What a refreshing page to compare to the one we got.

I'm guessing that https://developer.gm.com/ has something to do with it

Actually no :) None of that will let you change anything native on the unit. It will just let you develop apps off the unit that cant be run on a unit unless signed and released by GM and to my knowledge none have yet? This is 100% custom stuff, I do this for tons of different vehicles...

cool... so basically 'jailbreaking' to customize?

That's probably a good way to look at it ;)

You may just be our answer to getting the boost gauge back in the D.I.C.. (I watched some of your videos).

Oh I'm sure I could, I have the boost gauge in my XTS right now ;)

I like it!.. Now just how will you get that to members like me (and many others) who want that feature?

Well in the interest of keeping it affordable you'd have to ship me the cluster for a day ;) it's easy to take out and I've offered similar services for many other platforms :)

Yeah I kind of need that to stay in the car....LOL
How about we talk via PM the expensive way, and then in the future I'll be all set to upload/modify something that you could send to me later on.
Let me know.

When you mod the system in these cars will a new update program from GM remove your work?

Chris,
I'll be back in the area in a month or so. If I bring my cluster with me can you update it? I've been to your shop before. I had the G6 GXP that you used for tune development. PM me and we'll talk.

I think the coolest feature of CUE is the ability to store so many different functions on the favorites buttons. I like being able to store my home address on a button so I can press the button to activate the GPS to get home. I like being able to store artists from music on the SD card, same with play lists. I like being able to store my wife's cell phone number on a favorite button so I can call her with the press of that button.
