: low oil pressure-'97 SLS

I've got a fairly low mileage (88k) Seville that has the oil press lamp blinking at hot idle. Give it some rpm's (~1,000) and it goes out. No noises are apparent.
The other day as I was pulling in my driveway, the STOP ENGINE message came up, as was the oil lamp lit. Again, no odd noises and the oil is full.
I'm suspecting a bad sender. I could put a gauge on it, but it's buried behing the front motor mount.
The question I ask is; is there any history of these senders going bad and/or the oil pump being problematic?
The Seville doesn't have an oil pressure gauge on the DIC.
Sure hope it isn't a bearing.

Oil pumps are VERY reliable. Your problem is somewhat common and is almost always the oil pressure switch. Be sure to replace it with an A/C Delco switch.

Look at the blown open oil pressure switch in my albums.

If you want absolute, concrete, unambiguous peace of mind on cruise/idling oil pressure, go through the drill of removing the oil pressure sender, screw in a test gauge and drive the car until hot - not for 5 miles - 35 miles; record your pressures under all conditions. Now install a new pressure switch.
