: Battery (+) cover

Was under my hood just looking around since this vehicle is still so new to me, flipped open the small (+) flap over the positive battery post open just too see what was under it and the entire flap just broke off in my hand. :banghead:

Anybody ever have this happen? Not even a big deal, just annoying. I'll get it taken care of next time I have some (real) warranty work done.

What's really pitiful is that I had the car in the shop on Tuesday for an oil & filter change, tire rotation and state inspection. The checklist they attached to the invoice which shows everything they checked on the car didn't say one word about this "problem".

I did the same thing on my 2010. Never thought about warrany replacement. Next oil change will have it replaced. Thanks

I thought I was being petty by getting a new fender liner since it was warped, lol.

The way I see it, the dealer is better off replacing stuff under GM warranty than the extended warranty I bought from them.

Yeap.....

Car is going in for warranty oil change. I'll mention it to them and see what they say.

What happens if the mechanic breaks it? Do they hide it or fix it? I see no reason to mess with mine. Still, this is a concern for all owners.

Captain, any improvement on the design on your 2013?

Also we should start a contest (with pictures) on the best 'fix' for this 'problem' ;)

The 2013 battery cover is just like mine was on the 2010. No change!!!! Really no concern, the cover i guess was to help keep the terminal clean...

Mine broke after only two months, while i was adding fog lights. Didn't think about getting it replaced under warranty. Will look into it.

Mine broke 2 days after delivery. Really disappointed in the quality.

This helpful tip (I tried it and it works!) should save a few broken covers and a trip to the dealer! http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/cadillac-srx-second-generation-forum-2010/189119-how-open-batterys-terminal-cap.html
