I'm betting it has 234k or 334k (or a very poorly maintained 134k) since the engine blew. I'd replace the hoses anyways (if theyre original, they're toast. If they're replacements, they're probably toast). Rubber can only last so long.
1900 isn't that bad for a replacement engine (I'm guessing it comes with a warranty.)

ok because its in excellent condition interior wise i want to know before i buy the car its only 500 because the engine is blown and the dash says 39456 but im sure your right because it sound to good to be true....estimated how much you think it will cost to get this car running and do u think its worth it
and the engine sold buy autozone legit auto store check the link http://www.autozone.com/autozone/parts/Marshall-Engine/1979-Cadillac-Deville/_/N-ime3uZ9enw6?itemIdentifier=951302_354928_0_

Might help to know what you mean by a blown engine as that is very vague. You might consider having it rebuilt.

my only concern is money so what will be better on the pockets engine rebulid or drop an new engine

These cars only had a 5 digit odometer (hence the 34k on it). I would not get an engine from autozone....I don't trust autozone, since they can't even make an alternator or any sort of switch that won't die in a month. I'd see about quotes on getting it rebuilt locally before I'd spring for the autozone engine.

It is unlikely a 425 would fail at 34k unless it was thoroughly beaten to death, as Kevin says it must have a billion miles on it. :)

So im think im should buy the car for 500band just re build tje engine plaus from what I hear that 475 500 doesnt have the same longevity of the 425.....I mean I would think about investing into the car if the body and interior wasnt so flawless make me wonder if the owner tellin me everything and being honest

You can keep the car in really good shape cosmetically and have it have 200k or 300k on it. My dad had a 77 impala wagon that had about 250k on it (this was back in 00 or so) and it looked every bit of a sub 100k mile garaged car.

I havent heard the 472/500 longevity issues? I hear you can float the valves and probrably break such items if you are running the engine at max rpm alot,They make all the hp/torque down in the low rpm range..and a lot they make. But my sedan deville has just over 90k on an original engine. NO nocks or noise when I start it up after its been sitting for a week or a month. Of course with that said my great uncle bought my car with low miles and did regular service himself on the vehicle. I cannot say how the other guy serviced his car,and that is what matters with any car new or old.

472/500 had couple small issues that I seen documented, mainly the nylon timing gears stripping. Otherwise I hear good things. Whats more likely to be the cause on failure in your case is poor maintenance, specifically I'm thinking not changing the oil or overheating. I personally would think real hard about finding a deal on a good running 500 to stick in there. Converting to fuel injection would be my vote in theory but in reality, I'd say no for the same reason I can't convert my 68. It has been done with factory parts, but I personally don't find comfort in second hand fuel injection parts that old and hard to find. The aftermarket 4 barrel efi throttle body conversions are all over 1500$ I think. By the time you spend all that, you might as well do a 6.0 LS swap.

Sorry you missed it. As they say in the car business - while you were thinking/talking about buying, someone else was writing the check and actually buying. I hope you find exactly what you're looking for! :)

My guess for work it might need for making it an everyday car include shocks, brakes, new tires, steering bushings, new radiator, or an engine tune up (these are things that I did to my caddy at about 65k).
