Nice #s! I bet she's got another 40-50 left in her too.

definitely more hp to be found there....who did the mods?

FSTMRFR

I agree...lower pulley, 14 psi, cold air intake, and cat back system my car made 590 rwhp / 574 rwtq... No port, factory Injectors... nothing special.....

My car is in a happy zone. I could squeeze 100 more but, the car has 2000 miles on it and it runs awesome.

For FSTMRFR, we're right in the same ball park, 603 RWHP 587 Torque, 14 pounds boost [9.55 lower pulley] only thing different is a ported snout and ported throttle body, other than that we are indentical. Runs 125 & 11.09 on drag radials.

Are you on a 91 or 93 octane tune?

matt116

93 octane tune
Once the car has about 5000 miles on it I will have it on dyno again for a new tune. At that time the motor will be fully broken in.

Gotcha... I would think you have another 5-6* in there

Very nice numbers.
How do you like the Super Chiller? I was thinking about getting one instead of a HX.

Also, do you notice an increase in blower whine with your setup at cruis and light acceleration?

Super chiller is great but, you have to get your tuner to get the ecu to stop adding timing. When the chiller is on the ecu will think it can add as much as 20* of timing. Once tuned correctly it works great.

Blower whine is in line with increased blower RPM. Nothing crazy but is a bit louder when you stomp on it.

Matt
I would expect the whine to increase under hard acceleration, but what about at cruise and LIGHT accel? Is there an increase under those conditions?

What was happening when the ECU was adding the timing for the colder/denser air?

matt116

Yes the IAT, stayed at 90 to 100* so the ecu got real happy with timing.

Did it start to detonate?

matt116
05-09-13, 10:09 PM
No
He caught it before it got that far

V locity
05-10-13, 11:47 PM
So why did he pull timing?

matt116
05-11-13, 09:00 AM
He didn't pull timing, he stopped the computer from advancing timing on it's own. The computer was adding 4-6* past what he set it to with the colder IAT temps.

V locity
05-11-13, 09:20 AM
I'm just wondering why he did he did that if that if there was no detonation?

matt116

Because there would be detonation due to the ecu adding too much timing at wot.

V locity

You may want to quantify that...

matt116

You may want to quantify that...

On the dyno the car on a mid throttle pull would add timing and work great. 3/4 throttle the timing was getting into the 19* range which on pump gas was more than he wanted to see.

I'm guessing this is just part of the conservative tune then?

matt116
05-12-13, 09:35 AM
Yes
I wanted fast but safe. All my GM cars in the past always seemed to get faster at about 5000 miles. Due to not being a daily driver it takes me awhile to get that many. I still have less than 3000 on the car but plan on driving it more as the weather has started to get nice.

By the way
The chiller works off the AC compressor. So when your wot the compressor shuts off. So if you add timing, do a 1/4mile run at the end of the track you could see IAT's around 130* or so. That's when you have to worry about detonation with too much timing.

Matt,

Here's my IAT2 table (it's basically the stock table accept I pulled 1* @ 140* column). As you can see, It gives timing with cold manifold temps & the car loves it! Countless logs while driving the car both on the street & track with zero detonation. This is why my radar is up with the super chiller. Obviously, as the manifold temp gets warmer, it pulls the timing... I have a couple other more aggressive tables in tunes I use at the track with better gas where I add 2-3* in the mid temp zone too.

So I'm confused. Are you saying that the Super chiller works better than a heat exchanger or that it isn't recommended for drag racing because the intake temps climb to high at the end of a 1/4 mile creating possible detonation problems?

matt116
05-13-13, 01:35 PM
The tune is critical for the chiller to work correctly. The comp chiller adds a tank and larger factory tank. When ac is off it works like a stock car. So the extra tank capacity works like an extra heat exchanger.

V locity
05-13-13, 11:38 PM
Do you have the one with the extra tank?

Yes and larger tank in the place of the factory one.
