In late 2004 the N* was made with longer head bolts,in 2006 it also recieved a coarser thread on the bolts, is the 2006 worth
the extra searching over the 2004-05?.

That's not really correct. In 2000 one row of headbolts were made longer. Sometime in 2004, most here think later, they went to a coarse thread on the headbolts. 2006 and up DTS is very different than the 2005 down as far as the rest of the car is concerned, and the prices around here are alot higher. I recently made the jump from a 2005 Deville to a 2006 DTS lux III. The 05 had a softer ride, but I like nearly everything else about the 06. (Except changing the headlight bulbs and lack of built in diagnostics.)

Thanks for reply,so it sounds like 2000 to 2005 are pretty well the same as far as "improved) head bolts are, where are you from?, (prices are higher up here).

I'm in NE PA. The prices take a big jump going from 05 to the 06 body style. You can find 05's for $5-6k in nice shape with decent miles, but 06's are $10k and up, depending on options. A friend was looking at a performance 06 with 150k on it, and the seller would not come down from somewhere over $10k. My 06 is a Lux III with 86k when I bought it at a Cadillac dealer for $12K, which was a very good price, especially considering I was trading in.
