I searched through the forums and could not find this question, so hopefully I didn't miss it. I just purchased a sightly used 2012 SRX with a few thousand miles, I would prefer not sharing the exact number of miles to everyone I show the car to.....is there a way to turn off the odometer, or at least prevent it from coming on every time I open the driver side door? I owned a Toyota before this and you could actually choose to show your trip meter instead of the odometer. I can't find anything in the manual except how to set the display to blank but that doesn't save and must be set each time. I am not suggesting preventing the odometer from working, just wondering if you can prevent it from being displayed.
I realize this must seem like a trivial matter, I love the car so far and have no other complaints, just hoping someone knows of a way to not advertise the mileage every time I open the driver side door!
Thanks for any feedback!

Indy_Mike, I would be happy to look into this further for you if you wish. Please email me (Katie_Lucille@gmexpert.com) at your convenience, and I can investigate on your behalf. Including the last eight of your VIN in your message would be very helpful as I checked my resources.

Just cover it with black electrical tape.

I am considering taking some of that cling material (clings to glass/plastic or flat surface) and cutting it to precision and sticking it over it. I am surprised I seem to be the only person bothered by this, maybe I am more unique than I thought! :D

For the life of me I can not understand why anyone would be so concerned about showing the actual miles? :hmm:
Now what annoys me the most is looking at the remaining mileage icon going down down down ... so I never display that feature. LOL

Because the car looks brand new, smells brand new, and is brand new....to me. Why should everyone see the odometer every time I open the door? I think it was dumb to cause the odometer to flash on for 10 seconds every time someone opens the door! But I wouldn't want to see that remaining mileage icon either......:)

But I wouldn't want to see that remaining mileage icon either......:)I can think of a couple good reasons for that feature. It makes it much easier for the dealer service person to view the mileage quicker when someone comes in for service or lets say they want to check out a vehicle(s) mileage out in the dealer's parking lot. This way they don't have to get into the vehicle and insert the key and or hit the start button to check on the vehicle's mileage every time they need that information.

That's fine, just include a simple setting that allows the owner to turn it off if they want to....providing that option would not have cost GM anything, just a simple programming addition. The car software should be designed with the customer in mind, not the service techs or sales staff.....
