: Strange cup holder design - 2013 SRX Premium

The cup holder design is lacking - unless I am missing something.

Try inserting a Dunkin' Donut coffee cup - any size - in the cup holder and the cup won't slide into the 'cup' without hitting the edge of the arm rest. If you manage to get the cup in, it tilts due to the interference of the arm rest. For large cups, it may mean that you need to open the arm rest holder - and keep it open. For inflexible traveling cups, it won't sit in the cup holder without a fight and will be very difficult to pull out.

I'm amazed at this design. It can't be so. That is, unless I'm totally missing something. Do other SRX 2013 owners have this issue?

Try putting the cup into the cup holder closest to the shifter or slide the armrest back...

Edit: Whoops! Thought I was in the ATS forum!

Yes your center console arm rest is probably too far up towards the dash. You will need to grab the armrest and slide it backwards to the desired distance you need for your cup. Also you can push the button to move aside the divider and make the cup-holder deeper too.

Thanks. As you might have already guessed, the is a new car. Does the armrest simply slide by pushing it back, or is there a release button.

My 2011 it just slides back.

Still seems like a poor design to me.

Still seems like a poor design to me.IMO: That design works very well... I have never had a problem with the armrest moving unintentionally on me.

Yeah, it's never moved on me either. The only reason I even know it moves is because once when I got it back from the dealer it had been adjusted forward. And I remember thinking to myself 'hmm....learn something new about this car everyday!'

My 2012 is the same as the 2013. My wife's SONIC Route 44 cup is too big to fit in the holder even with it expanded. Anyone know of an after market insert that will hold bigger cups?

That ban has been defeated. With all the public backlash, it's unlikely to go forward
