When ever I hit a bump it feels like I am riding on rocks...i am assuming the fronts are shot. My question, are the fronts run by electronic compressor on the EXT, or are they normal gas struts?

They are active gas shocks

They are active gas shocks so do i need the replacement with compressor, or just normal gas struts?

They are active gas shocks they are worked by the same module but they don't need a compressor just the rear ones use it for load leveling

Yes they are expensive. But they are worth every penny...I just replaced fronts and rears not too long ago and it rides better than ever.

had my rig in for service today...front shocks are good. Tech said system must have switched fronts to "firm" cause now it's fine

The system goes into a passive mode when a fault code is thrown I think my front shocks are firm for the mileage my truck has
