How do you get the album art to display? I moved my iTunes music in .m4a format to an SD card and it plays. I also moved the folder "album artwork" to the SD card but it doesn't seem to asociate with the music.

Any ideas?

It doesn't display album art work from m4a files. I converted my m4a files to mp3 format and then it did display the artwork if it was part of the file. I had to get an mp3 file editor to add in missing art work. Check out mp3 tag pro to update tags and add art work. You can add you own or it will find artwork on the web.

I just redid my entire music library this weekend to include album art. The artwork has to be part of the tag as jeffpaletz mentioned. I used Mp3tag to clean up everything. Clean tags means easier searches too

First I found out that the playlist acceptable to CUE is not the usual m3u file or some of the other versions mentioned in the CUE manual. I'm not talking about the need to remove the path info to Drive/Library which I can see wouldn't work in CUE, but the other info which usually is shown in an .m3u file will not work in CUE. Incidentally CUE's version do not work with the latest WIN 7 Windows Media Centre, Windows Media Player, iTunes or Nero Kwik 12 (yes the path of the Music Library directory is missing but Windows knows the location of that Library and even if putting the "CUE" playlist into the Music folder, Windows Media Centre, which presently is my default for opening an m3u file, in both cases opens, but states the playlist is in error, or something like that. Now as to artwork, yes, I too found out that the jpg files the various software place in the album folders will not work in CUE and as mentioned by others they need to be imbedded as part of the ID3 tag in the mp3 files. All four music software I use will show the artwork if so imbedded but may then create a jpeg copy in the respective folder, mainly AblumArtSmall.jpg and Folder.jpg. CUE on the other hand, even when imbedded, here too seem to have some undocumented extra requirement. Per jeffpaletz imbedded artwork in every type of music file CUE can handle (per manual), doesn't necessarily work in CUE, e.g. .m4a files. Furthermore, while some of my mp3 files with imbedded artwork show up in CUE, I just went ahead and used Nero Burning Rom Platinum 12 (latest version) to recreate some of my mp3 files and have the artwork included. It also created automatically an m3u playlist, identical to that when exporting from iTunes. For these recreated mp3 files all 4 of my music software display the artwork. CUE does not after having totally redone my SD card with all my music including the totally revised playlists in CUE format. After a total re-indexing by CUE all works o.k. as to playing any song via any selection method including the re-done and alphabetically sorted (CUE) playlist files. Some additional new songs (with artwork as imbedded by Nero 12 when creating the mp3 files) also show up and play without a problem as expected, but NONE of the artwork, as imbedded when created mp3 files via Nero, shows up. Those previous files with imbedded artwork still show up. I may well have some other mp3 files with imbedded artwork with doesn't show in CUE, as, particularly in the Windows software, a lot of artwork has always shown, but that may be due to those jpg files in the album folders. Looking into the ID3 section of the music files where the artwork does show up in CUE and those of the just re-created and new mp3 files all show some similar wording like APIC image/jpeg cover, which is not in mp3 files without artwork (of course with lots of unreadable info), so I couldn't really find any clues towards a difference which thus must be in some HEX info. So my next try will be to use Jeff's software to imbed artwork, as obviously NERO's way of doing it, which works in any other software I have, unfortunately doesn't work in CUE. While I really like my XTS and also like CUE, it's a shame that CUE has some UNFORTUNATELY undocumented different requirements for both m3u and other playlist files it handles as well as the artwork. So we users have to "play and play around" to get it working, which is a rather poor service. I like the artwork showing up, if only to replace the ugly default icon (if that default wouldn't be there I could do without), as this is a nice to have but not a requirement as long as the music itself plays. After all my eyes are on the road. Well as Cody has mentioned, they are working at getting the indexing issue at each start-up of the car changed. Hopefully, they also look at the playlist and artwork issue to make it more compatible with what other software handles. Cody, if you read this , would you please bring it to the attention of the people working on this, if it is not already in the works. Subsequent Testing: I have now tried to use iTunes (File/GetInfo --Artwork) where one can delete from and insert into MP3 (and other music files) artwork. That works in CUE, but not the at the time of ripping via NERO Platinum 12 imbedded artwork. Looking at the mp3 files via a HEX viewer, both methods have some identical data related to the artwork but it differs between both methods. See the relevant attachments. First one is the by NERO created data. The other by iTunes. I however don't know why one type works but the other doesn't in CUE yet both method seem to work with any other software I have. Sorry for the long post, but I thought this info may be of interest. On another related issue, this time I put my playlist m3u files first on a freshly formatted SD card and then the various folders with MP3 files and I was able to select my playlist, (they worked) well before indexing was completed, so CUE seems to index the date from the top and let the user work already with the partially indexed data while continuing indexing.

See my "edited" post above outlining results after additional testing. (noted an edit doesn't change the posting date).
