I rented an Impala a few months ago when I had my wife's car in the body shop (don't ask LOL). Anyway, I don't recall when I have been more surprised with the performance of a vehicle. I should get one of those for a daily driver instead of dragging my Escalade around. The 300 horse Impala is a "bullet" and get's great gas mileage. I don't really like front wheel drive but I have to say it ran and drove great. I am anxious to see the new 2014 SS with rear wheel drive.

"The underhood magic comes from a 6.2-liter LS3 V8--the same basic powerplant used in the current Corvette. Here it produces 415 horsepower, routed through a six-speed automatic transmission. Manual gear selection is enabled through steering-wheel paddles, but no true manual tranny will be offered. Chevrolet claims 0-60 mph times in about five seconds, putting it deep in modern muscle car territory"

0-60 in 5...Very Serious!!

I had heard rumors of the ss team being disbanded maybe gm had out on the ss package on the impala (my uncle was going to get one but someone else beat him to it) the claim of the 0-60 time in 5 seconds is close to corvette territory.

Thanks. The B&O sound systems started becoming available I believe in 2007 for the D3 platform (2004+), not my D2 (1997-2003). Just have the Bose, is good enough for a factory system (I hate aftermarket HUs). The Jag has a factory Alpine setup with midbass drivers and a sub, is also pretty decent.

Oh I didn't know they used Bose how does it compare to the Bose system in the caddy?

Alpine I knew jag had used Harmon kardon(I know they make great audiophile grade audio receivers for home as I have two)in certain years
I also know that they bought out infinity speakers (some people claim that they ain't as good since but I have them in my car and truck both)

Nice I like the trans am it reminds me of kitt from the knight rider show and is a really sharp looking car for its age(really worth restoring)

Thanks - I've always liked the body style, which is one reason I got it. I've never considered doing a KITT replica - there's a few running around, but I prefer mine the way it is looks wise. I think if someone's going to do a replica, they should go all-out with the crazy dash conversions and all the other stuff...but then it would be kind of ridiculous to drive around like that.

Don't believe everything you "heard". Owning a Jag ourselves, they are great automobiles. As far as problems, the electrical "nightmares" are a thing of the past, Jaguars were pretty much fixed after Ford had bought the marque.

I almost picked up an '89 XJS V12 as a project a few years back, (running and driving, not wrecked or rusty, $900!) but decided against it due to lack of time / space. I've always loved those, but god the horror stories you hear about '80s Jaguars! I did also hear that Ford fixed the electricals when they acquired the brand, but I've never owned one (old or new) to have any firsthand experience.

The 3rd gen F-body that is really worth some cash these days is the '89 Turbo Trans Am - They only made about 1500 or so, and they had the turbo 3.8 V6 out of the Grand National in them. Last I looked, decent examples were selling for $15 - $25k all day long depending on condition / mileage. Even ratty ones go for close to $10k.

Yes it's great! I like it a lot. I am a big guy and I fit in it pretty good,, better than a vette. It doesn't see as much action as it could, I seem to have a heavy work life also but the wife enjoys it from time to time.
