Thank you in advance for any help you can provide....I have an 05 CTS-V Stock.

Problem engine wont start. Battery shows 12.4 V, Engine will not turn, No noice from statrter, no clicking sound, dome lights dims slightly. I can push start it and will run fine. this problem is intermitten and it only happens once in a long time. I was told to replace the starter. If this problem does need a new starter can anyone recomend one?

Tks Ed.

The problem you describe has several possible causes. A marginal battery is one of them. Some autoparts stores will "stress test" a battery for free. The next thing to check is the wiring and grounding starting with the battery cables at the battery and the other end. The wiring at the starter is subject to heat damage from the stock catalytic converters. It could also be an intermittent problem with the clutch position switch which part of the starting circuit. Beyond that it could be, as already suggested, a marginal starter and/solenoid.
