2006 DTS. Nine out of ten times the key in the ignition dinger will sound off eiven with the key out and I open the door! It does not matter if I take it out before or after I open the door and it is always in park when I do. I have to take the key in and out about five times before it quits. :annoyed: Thanks

Spray the key with silicone and put it in and out about 10 times... spray it again and do it another 10 times.

Just curious Superjim, what is the logic behind 10 repetitions?

None for that EXACT number... but the tumblers need to be worked repeatedly for the silicone to get into them... and 10 should be a good number to give them a little workout.

Use silicone or WD-40? Should we do this as preventive maintenance as the cars cpbegin to age?

Hadn't really thought of it as a preventive measure... but doing it once a year sure couldn't hurt anything and it cold possibly prevent ignition switch problems later on down the road.
I thin I will do mine today... LOL
