i have a '77 caddy hearse with 67k original miles on the 425, im going to have to let the car sit for awhile because i have no money to put into it or to put gas in it to drive regularly - so my question is, what are some things i can do to it to prevent damage to the motor and tranny? any suggestions will be greatly appreciated - this car's my baby!
drive it around the block once a month...don't let the fuel tarnish...get one of the additives for fuel that keep it preserved in the tank for longer...keep it out of the sun/rain/snow, etc...keep air in the tires and move it once in a while so they don't stay on the same spot...there are a few posts regarding these sorts of situations which you can search for and find all kinds of good stuff...

Car cover would probably do you good. I've used a cheaper one and it repels most everything. I got a 20 foot one at Pep Boys for around $60.

would that same sortof car cover work for my hearse? call me dumb, but i dont know how long it is - plus the top of it is straight and long so that adds to the fact that its not the length/height of a normal car. ive been meaning to get a cover for it, i saw hearse covers on eBay not too long ago and now that i have the money for one, there arent any on there. i dont want to pay alot to get one custom made, so any suggestions on what i should do?
btw thanks for the replies!

You might be able to get away with using one for an Excursion or something.

drive it around the block once a month
mmm
I would drive it continuously for at least 1/2 hour to drive condensation off the block and exhaust parts every thirty days or sooner.
if weather is blamy in your region, keep heater blowing during drive to circulate air around in case any musty places in interior.
work all accessories including power windows if equipped. open/close all doors and trunk (maybe not your case)
clean battery terminals/cables and tighten to torque spec's
visual inspect car for unsual things, some other good things were mentioned in other posts
