You can probably find one on ebay or a used one from http://www.factoryautomanuals.com/cart/customer/home.php or get a new one from Helm http://www.helminc.com/helm/homepage.asp?r= Edahall 12-30-04, 06:01 PM I also rebuilt my transmission myself and found that the factory service manual was the best. I also bought a video that guided me step by step through the whole procedure that I found extremely helpful. You might also want to install a Transgo shift correction package that contains all the updates for your transmission. Msilva954 12-30-04, 06:13 PM hey Edahall......you did it yourself huh.....how hard was it? cl1986 12-31-04, 12:23 AM about the 95 deville, will the tranny last 190k+ like my 91 did?? Edahall 12-31-04, 11:35 AM hey Edahall......you did it yourself huh.....how hard was it? Yes, I completely rebuilt the tranny on my 1987 Cadillac Allante myself. It took about a weeks worth of labor to do the job. The hardest part of the whole job was actually removing and installing the transmission and knowing what part to buy since this transmission had a lot of bad hard parts. The actual rebuilding was fairly straight forward. I had my digital camera handy and I took lots of pictures as I was dismantling it. While putting it back together, I had my VCR player next to my work bench with the transmission rebuiling tape in it and just followed the tape step by step. The digital pictures came in handy for some of the wiring and extra clutches on the Allante transmission that is unique. The Transgo shift kit took about an extra 1/2 day to install but by the way it shifts now, it was really worth it. I took my time since this was the first time but after doing it once, I would say I could do the actual rebuilding in 2 days. In fact, I've got an extra 4T60 with 20K miles since rebuild that I may end up rebuilding it again for the heck of it if I don't sell it soon. | |
